QUIT HITTING SUBMIT!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to the assholes who don't understand the server is slow and will record their post EVEN IF THEY RECEIVE A SERVER 500 ERROR message!

I worked for hours on my post only to see it nearly disappear from the Recent list in 20 minutes just because a few MORONS have no patience!

Second that! And also second that this was a DAMN good post that was lost.

The real problem here is not with users (quite understandably) getting confused and submitting the same material more than once.

But rather, that TPM sucks.

Seriously, if I volunteered to spend a weekend setting up an alternative site - with all of the features that users here seem to want, but without all the crap, would people be willing to use it? Don't want to do all the work if nobody thinks it would be useful.

Thank you for saying what we've all been screaming to our screens.

I'm off to read your post -

And before you start calling people assholes, you should know it was a glitch in the system and not the fault of users. I posted once, it froze my browser, and I was trying to quit the browser for about five minutes. I restarted and when I logged on, there were three copies of my post. I submitted once and am just as upset, but what can you do? It's a free service.

I had a similar experience. Received the 500 error, so I typed in a different url, waited for that page to load, then went pack to TPM...only to find that it had posted by entry twice.

So I'm trying to get in the habit of saying

Apologize in advance for the double/triple/quadruple post.

Ripper,

Will you please repost the one that was 'shoved off' so that more can read it.

Thanks.

Between multiple submits hits and slow server, and software glitches. I think a good scream at the Admins is in order!

I can't not recommend a post that shouts and tells people to quit hitting submit.

Who are you calling a moron?

Man, people need to chill-out and relax. What is the big-deal about re-posts. The important issue is getting ideas out and talking about them and not calling people names. C'mom guys....let's keep our eyes on the ball.

Yesterday I got error message, did not resubmit, but rewrote the comment, having no idea they would print on an error msg, I certainly apoligize.

I just posted this post:

http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/2008/09/wheres-the-outrage.php

And this was the result, which I posted as the first comment over there:

Sorry for the double post! I posted THIS one first, and got this:

The file you are looking for has not been found

Return to the home page.

Then waited for 5 minutes and reposted it again. It seems that this one DID take after five minutes.

So sorry!

Even the five minutes doesn't mean anything. It may still post!

Technically it's a "Send" button. :-)

And it's not the user's server's fault, it's either Movable Type's fault or their server having problem. Granted, the heavy use is a burden on their server, but MT is a paid service, so Josh & Co. need to get on the phone with their provider and fix this.
