Questioning McCain's Judgment and His Leadership
McCain's choice of Sarah Palin has already raised serious questions about McCain's judgment. Not only is Palin clearly poorly qualified for the job of Vice President, the process of selecting her for such an important role was apparently done impulsively, with little vetting. But now comes new news: apparently, John McCain really wanted Lieberman or Ridge to be his running mate. But McCain allowed himself to be bullyed into a decision by conservatives in his party and by his political consultants. This raises a second question about McCain. Is he really a leader? And does America need for President someone who can be pushed around by Republican party hacks, even to the point of making a reckless, hasty, and poorly considered decision as he chooses the person who may, someday, be thrust into the Presidency of the United States?
McCain has made fitness to lead the central theme of his campaign. McCain's choice of running made--and, particularly, the process followed to make that choice--forces us to ask the question: How fit, really, is John McCain to lead?
