Palin Ropa-Dope???
I figured it out. Palin can't be as pathetic as she looked/sounded with Katie. The McC/Rove braintrust would never let her out in public like that....unless its a Rovian plan--a Ropa-dope for Thursday. If she comes out on Thursday like she did for her acceptancve speech and blows away the gullible millions, McCain will have another two-week news cycle about how she was unfairly treated, etc.etc. Could it be? More likely she's just completley unqualified to be VP and is simply incapable of formulating a coherent sentence. We'll see.

Here is how she's debated in the past, if you're bored:

That's freaking hilarious. She just can't kill enough animals. Most of her first few answers were all about hunting.
How the hell did she win? Fifty percent turnout is the most likely answer. Palin becomes governor based on the votes of 25% of the electorate.

I think you're on to something there. I mean, I don't expert her to start quoting french political philosophy but still.

Many people can deliver a prepared speech as if they are well versed on the issues. However, knowledge and intellect come out when one doesn't have the prop of a prepared text.
However, the question is rather than admit the error of his ways, will McCain do us all a favor and keep her as his running mate no matter how abysmal her performance or polls?

I think she's going to do better than we think, and by continually talking about how stupid she is, we'll make that easier. Just holding her own means a total and complete victory. If we keep this up, just saying her name will be a success. And God help us if she scores a point or two.
I'd rather us spend time talking about anything other than how stupid she is. When we do, we say to those who don't think her stupid that they are stupid, too. That's a mistake, and opens us for the appearance of elitism, which in this race, I don't think we can afford.

I do think you are right - and that was the point of her selection. They picked the most unqualified person they could find - geared to make a certain demographic say "she's just like Meee!". So when those people argue how qualified she is - they make it personal and things degenerate from there.
Trying to get people to be realistic about the fact that Palin could actually do pretty damn good is a lost cause it seems.

It's true. Expectations are so unbelievably low that if she can properly pronounce Ahmadinejad people will be thrilled. The low bar that America has set for someone who could be president next year. I still think they will try and back her out somehow.

I don't think she's stupid. She's shrewd and manipulative, she's totally unqualified for the position but she's not stupid.

Yes she is, and with a personality that attacks enemies and cronyizes friends. She believes in dangerous and unjustifiable things in my mind, and she, to me, is the single most dangerous thing in this election.
She's qualified to be VP in the sense that Nero was, or Louis XIV, or even Jacoby (I have that name wrong. in the French Revolution, who presided over the beheadings of all supposed enemies) She's got the instincts of an uncurious autocrat.
But she can make the case that she kicks ass. And Americans LOVE people who kick ass.
Which is what makes her so scary.

Palin playing possum? Palin was dropped into the presidential election just 30 days ago. She had no prior background or preparation in national issues until that moment. There is no way she could cogently address such issues in one month. No one could.
It's not possible to cram that much information in so short a time and speak coherently when questioned. Palin is not playing possum. She has jumped into the deep end of the pool and is in hopelessly over her head. She will be exposed as being such in her debate with Biden.
