McCain's post-bailout argument fails on all counts
The McCain campaign's argument that Democratic partisanship killed the bailout plan fails on three counts. First, McCain said he was going to build a bipartisan coalition to pass a bailout package. He failed on this count because the plan failed. Then he claimed the plan failed because of Democratic partisanship. He can't credibly claim that he was going to create a bipartisan coalition to pass the bill, then blame partisanship for its failure without wearing a few extra large, grade A eggs on his face. He failed on that count. Last, it is a falacy to say the plan failed because of Democratic partisanship, when 60% of the House Democrats voted in favor of the plan, while only 33% of Republicans voted for it. McCain couldn't even deliver the vote of his own party to pass the plan. He failed on that count. Three strikes and you're out, John.
