McCain Suspends Campaign, Does Interview, Gives Speech
So John McCain has suspended his campaign. Immediately following his announcement, McCain took the opportunity to appear on CBS for an interview with Katie Couric. This morning, he gave a speech to Clinton's Global Initiative, where he again reiterated that he has suspended his campaign (and where he used the phrase, "When I am elected president" numerous times. An odd phrase coming from a guy who's suspended his campaign, n'est pas?). My friends, this isn't campaigning--it's just talking to folks. Because John McCain has suspended his campaign. No campaigning for John McCain until this financial crisis is resolved. None whatsoever. No siree, Bob.
Members of Congress have let McCain know, in no uncertain terms, that his input and assistance are neither requested nor particularly appreciated. In the words of Barney Frank: "All of a sudden, now that we're on the verge of making a deal, John McCain drops himself in here to make a deal. I really worry about this politicization of it. Frankly, we’re going to have to interrupt a negotiating session tomorrow between the Democrats and Republicans on a bill where I think we’re getting pretty close, and troop down to the White House for a photo-op, and then come back and get on with it. We’re trying to rescue the economy, not the McCain campaign." "It's the longest Hail Mary pass in the history of either football or Marys."
It's becoming increasingly obvious that one of the primary reasons McCain pulled this stunt was to kill the Palin-Biden debate. Let's hope he doesn't get away with it.

He's coming off like an idiot. The only sane reaction you can have is WTF?
And if he does get Sarah Palin off the hook, it's going to lose him support, not gain it. She's already lark descending and the natives are getting very restless at about how little of her they know and see.
It won't work.

It doesn't surprise that McLame comes off as an idiot. He is an idiot.

What's astonishing to me is that McCain's campaign itself, more than anything else, has called into question his ability to serve as President.
There were a number of reasons I didn't care for or vote for Bush in 2000 -- his policy positions, his track record managing private companies, and others -- but I can't remember anything about his 2000 General Election campaign that was bad as McCain's. When the USS Cole was attacked, Gore and Bush didn't stop campaigning.
And I'm not talking the dirty tricks, under the the table stuff (like the 2000 GOP SC primary). I'm talking about the above board, open for everyone to see, this is the kind of President I'll be.
McCain's picked someone almost totally unfit to be Vice-President; put out one ad after another that aren't merely distortions, but out-and-out lies; and now his campaign/debate suspension trick.
I keep thinking my respect for McCain can't get any lower, nor my confidence in McCain's judgment, but he keeps surprising me.

I thought I hated Bush, but I just disagree with him. But I HATE McCain. What a disgrace of ego.

Check out what Biden said to Couric about FDR. (Ouch) He might need some prep too. Though Palin probably needs a prep IV.

I still can't believe some still want to vote for McCain, it goes to show how much many hate Obama.
And Sarah Palin...ouch...her interview with Couric shows a woman completely out of it. McCain has showed tremendous lack of judgment by picking without vetting. Why can't people see that?
