McCain only NOW sending 8-person team to Alaska to vet Palin
Yep, you read that right. From Andrew Halcro's excellent blog on Alaska politics, comes this:
Vetting the Veep...post announcementThe campaign of John McCain has sent a staff of eight people intoI guess I'll keep this short too, because really, what can anyone say at this point? Please read the comments at the Walcro blog. One person suggests McCain's team may really be there for other reasons:
Alaska to conduct background checks and vetting on Governor Sarah
Palin.Word is they have have eight rooms reserved at a Wasilla hotel.
If there are 8 McCain operatives in Wasilla at this point it would be
better to suppose they were spin-doctors, records scrubbers, pay-off
artists and a host of other types to ensure nothing upsets the
applecart in which the unvetted choice is riding.

Well, I kinda think the pregnancy issue (either hers or her daughter's) isn't a good one to emphasize, because of the high likelihood it will backfire with many women. And why go there when there is so much material on Palin having to do with issues and suitability for office.
Still, that graphic is pretty funny!

They can't hide shit. Whatever they try it WILL be found.

They might also be campaign coaches, helping her to make sure she stays on message. (Although 8 does seem a bit extreme for that.)

Good point, Ben - she's going to need lots of coaching. But I disagree on your latter point: eight is not enough. I can't wait to see her on any morning interview show where the host is willing to confront her with any of her contradictory statements, and ask follow up questions.
But does the press do that anymore?

Not that I've noticed. I also like how the phrase "8 is enough" (or not enough, as the case might be) has entered yet again into the political discussion. :)
