Main Stream Media stop whining and DO SOMETHING about Palin!!!

avatar

Today's events should have led the MSM to an epiphany but I would doubt that it did.  That epiphany is this: Sarah Palin needs YOU a lot more than you need Sarah Palin.  For the past 4 weeks since Sarah Palin burst on the scene there has been an intense amount of interest in her.  But much to the media and the country's chagrin, access to her has been SEVERELY limited.  What started as a low murmor has now grown into a loud growl from the MSM that it is unreasonable and unfair to keep the American people from vetting this relative neophyte who would be a heartbeat away from the Presidency should she and John McCain win on November 4th.  But in spite of the fact that McCain's people have prevented these media folks from interviewing Palin or posing any questions to her, every single day we are subjected to  full network coverage of her speeches and movements.  Today when the media FINALLY threw a mini hissy fit because they were not going to allow the producers and reporters in with Palin while she is doing her Foreign Policy Tour For Dummies they found that whaddya know, Sarah Palin DOES need media exposure after all.  When the MSM threatened to take their ball and go home all of a sudden everything was just a "miscommunication"  and "of course they were welcome to come in with her to the meetings". Why not use this leverage to bring her out of her cone of silence.  Lets just imagine that the MSM, aside from Faux News of course, told the McCain camp in no uncertain terms that they would NOT show another single clip of Sarah Palin until she held a full press conference.  Not one American could possibly fault them for making this stand because the honest to God truth is Palin recites the same speech EVERY SINGLE DAY.  What is the news worthiness of her regurgitated rehearsed lines?  It is time for the MSM to draw a line in the sand and refuse to cover this woman if she refuses to be vetted.  The American people are NOT John McCain and we have a right to know exactly what her policy positions are before we decide to vote for or against her.  Better yet WE THE PEOPLE should DEMAND that our local and national media outlets discontinue coverage of Sarah Palin until such time as she agrees to a full press conference without John McCain where she has to take questions for at least 30 minutes.  Now there is no doubt that if the MSM takes this stand that McCain's people will have to relent and put her out in front of the people.  The only question that remains is how can we convince the MSM to take such a stance.  I for one am going to email several outlets myself and I encourage others to do the same OR if you have a better idea please feel free to state it.  We have 40 or so days to actually learn about this woman.  Everyday that she doesn't take questions is another day that we lose to vet her!

Couldn't possibly agree more! It is mind boggling.
She has has done one interview,(Hannity doesn't count, that was a joke), taken not one reporter question & we have been exposed to her for less than a month! Is everyone insane? It is within the realm of possibility that she could actually become president.

It is keeping me awake nights.

Yup! Posted this last week

http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/2008/09/dear-media-10-simple-questions.php

10 simple questions that Media could ask Sarah. They're yes/no so she can do it in minutes.

Paragraphs are your friend. LOL

Palin is irrelevant, IMO. The less time MSM spends on her, the better. They should be spending most of their time on the many questionable relationships that McBush's staff has.

It's hilarious that McBush's people are answering the NYT charges by trying to claim they are "in the tank" for Obama. That's going to backfire badly, IMO.

Even Fox is now saying that McBush has to "win" the debate on Friday. A tie will not be good enough.

We still have voter suppresion to worry about, though. I do wish MSM would concentrate on that a little bit more.

Good post but what the MSM should have done is 'go home' and leave Palin sit there without their cameras.

My God, she's supposed to be ready to assume the presidency and she can't take questions?

She isn't elected yet and even if she were, the media shouldn't allow the politicians to set the media rules. Either that or the rest of the MSM all should just merge with Fox News and be done with it.

avatar

This no question/no answers game is going to backfire. Hopefully, anyhow.
If McSlime/Painlin are already pulling this crap with the media, before any debates even, what would it be like if they actually got elected/stole the office?
We all know how bad Bush/Cheney are. I believe this monumental joke of a ticket would be unfathomable!
Who the hell do they think they are?
They just boggle my mind.

Well, you have to hand it to the republicans. Nobody dares to get down and dirty to criticize McCain (my God! He's a POW!) We can't discuss his physical health and his probable mental failings such as PTSD or early-stage dementia (that's ageist)

Now the MSM doesn't dare to so anything about Palin's woeful inadequacies in practically any sphere (that's sexist) so he is free to flip-flop his nonsense, secure in the knowledge nobody is going to bring up the Keating Five or his ardent support of free-market non-regulated Corporate rape.

Caribou Barbie can meet Hamid Kharzai for a photo-op wearing a short black skirt, crossing her legs and displaying her national qualifications to be Vice President. I saw one picture today where he was obviously staring, but that one has been cropped. Too bad. If that's how she dresses to pass the time of day with a prominent Muslim, I hate to think of how she'd dress to meet the Pope.

I agree. There should be a recorded video of every word she says. For review - in case of a gaffe. But that's it.

The lady has not "earned" her current position, not by anything she did in the past, and certainly not by her contemptuous behavior toward voters since her strange elevation to role she is unfit for.

So why don't hear more about the following...

Hang this aversion she has to fixing the rape and child sexual abuse thing in Alaska (because she didn't want it to interfere with Senator Ted Steven - the crook!) right around McCain's neck. He didn't know when because he didn't vet her, or he didn't care..either way he has a sick set of values regarding the welfare of women and children. That kind of Alaskan values can stay up there...don't bring it to Washington. Already got enough perversion there...Foley Craig.

Hi Everybody!!! :D

I don't know what a Vice President does, but I'm gonna do what the Vice President because God told me so. Okay, see you soon, now.

xoxoxo,
Sarah (2009-2010ish)!

Mr Crankypants should get you and MonicaL into a 3-some.

And tape it for both Bill C and McCain.

I LIKE bright shiny cameras taking my picture, on camera film. Okay, by now.

xoxoxo,
Sarah (2009-2010ish).

At the end of the Hannity love-in Palin thanks him and it's obvious from her voice that she feels like she aced it. She's thrilled to be with such a deferent audience.
The sound of panic was when Charlie Gibson asked her about the Bush Doctrine. A voice stress analyzer readout would have been off the charts.

Why is it that the Media spent so much time this evening patting itself on the back for doing nothing as it did covering the bailout plan?

Keith, Rachel Maddow, CNN and the like all spent a great amount of time talking about the "Media Boycott?" Then at the same time sarcastically airing the 29 seconds of Palin and Karzai, and 20 seconds of Palin and Kissenger etc. Oh and don't forget the 15 minute press conference including his statement?

The media got nothing from their tantrum but a sour lollipop and John McCain got exactly what he wanted, more time off the political game clock. He can now say that he did a press conference, and that the media got to cover Palin ("they relented") and they can continue to say screw the media.

We still don't know a thing about our potential vps' views on a single issue, and McCain talks about only what he wants to. Who remembers Dean Smiths' UNC strategy of Four Corners? They're stalling all of us.

If the MSM covers Obama only for two days straight, I bet we'll see how fast the interviews come then.

As I write this CNN's reporting that "to be fair both sides are keeping the press out."

I need a flatscreen brick for my flatscreen tv.

There is at least ONE person at CNN who calls it like it is and thats my girl Campbell Brown. She called out the McCain camp for sheltering Sarah Palin but if you know her history of skewering the McCain surrogates most notably how she totally tore down Tucker Bounds (which was such a thorough ass kicking that it prompted McCain to cancel an appearance on Larry King Live)then like me you might surmise that she was really getting a backhanded dig in at Sarah Palin herself. Here is the link. Enjoy!

The media could smoke her out if they wanted to. All they need do is ignore her regurgitations and update us all, at length and repetitively, about Troopergate, etc., and she'd be pounding on the media's door begging to be asked questions -- about anything but Troopergate, etc.

What's good for the Goose.

They should refuse to cover all of the candidates unless they participate in the process and not just provide a medium for their scripted messages.

No questions? No coverage!

The only question that remains is how can we convince the MSM to take such a stance.

Here is one. Gotta love CNN's Campbell Brown.

avatar

The fastest way to get McCain's attention is to ignore him, his campaign, and Palin. That will get his temper running at full throttle and will be like watching a fourth of July fireworks display.

McCain needs to relent and give in to interviews with himself and an unchaperoned Palin.

McCain needs to be hammered with the many truths that have sprung up nurtured by the false and misleading statements he and his campaign staff have been making for the last few months. No more free media rides for the POW Express!

As for Ms. Palin, the MSM needs to hammer the truth out of her about Troopergate and the many other tidbits of her dictatorship as mayor in Wasilla and as governor of Alaska.

After eight years of Bu$h and repugs running the country, the public needs to know what type of sadomasochistic tyrant they may be facing if the repugs win the election.

avatar

Moad Dib,
You are exactly right!
Imagine if it were the Clinton's trying to pull off what McSlime/Painlin are trying to do.
They were knocked down and beaten bloody for much, much less.
So, you are right. The press, as well as we the people, should totally ignore them. Except for calling them out on all of their lies. That will get McSlime's blood boiling.
And, if she thinks she's capable of running this country, (further into the abyss), why can't she have a solo press conference? That is an issue that the media should pick up and shout from the tallest building.

I think most of you would not be very good campaign managers. You seem to react rather than think.

Frankly, I hope Palin CONTINUES TO AVOID THE MEDIA FOR AS LONG AS SHE LIKES.

Look what has happened to her FAV/UNFAV ratings in the past 2 weeks of silence.

Why give her a chance to undo the damage she has already done?

The longer she refrains - the worse her ratings get - and the more suspicion and doubt accumulates as to her qualifications and overall integrity.

avatar

I think you are forgetting one thing about what happened two weeks ago. The Charlie Gibson interview. For as much as Republicans tried to vilify Charlie Gibson for asking the woman a simple and relevant question about the Bush Doctrine, the average citizen saw her incredibly inept answer to the question as pretty good reason to wake up to the fact that she is nothing more than a political prop. THATS when the shine started to come off of Sarah Palin's star and then she exacerbated it by continuing to go out and include in her speeches that out and out LIE about the bridge to nowhere after she admitted it was a lie during the Charlie Gibson interview. The more that woman talks the lower her approval ratings go. She isnt going to magically turn into a genius on foreign policy, the economy or energy overnight I dont give a damn how much Joe Lieberman is coaching her. Right now she is still fooling almost half of the country by reading off a teleprompter and then hauling azz to get back on the bus before anybody can ask her even one question. On the other hand she keeps attacking Obama and Biden and then THEY get asked questions about her attacks. Thats bullshat!!! Get her out in front of the press and RELEASE THE HOUNDS and you will see the McSame Palin ticket go up in flames.

Combine the media strategy with the economic meltdown and McCain's behavior the last week and McPalin are headed into oblivion.

ABC/WaPo - Obama up 52-43, 2 weeks ago he was down 2...the end is near for McSame

To no ones surprise here, this is all about keeping the lid on the McCain/Palin can of ignorance.

Audience approved town all meetings, softball interviews with in-league reporters, one-way speeches, carefully crafted photo ops, and soundless mini footage - all means for avoiding referential history.

Couple this with lots and lots of poison pill style ads and you've got a pretty firm grip over image without ever having to address an issue.

avatar

You know its bad when even FAUX NEWS is calling out Sarah Palin. Sheppard Smith might have just done a better job than the Obama supporter of rebutting McCains surrogate on why Sarah Palin should be in front of the press. She tried to use the talking point that Barack Obama gets an email from his 300 advisors telling him what to say every day and Sheppard Smith was like "Well can't Mccain's people email Sarah Palin the same way beyatch?" Ok the beyatch was mine but you get the point. lol Enjoy

Soooooo unlikely to happen, but rec'd anyway.

The MSM is totally "in the tank" for Obama-
Why SHOULD Governor Sarah Palin submit to questions on THEIR terms?

The "Anointed One" hasn't had a press conference in over a year.
Additionally- when questioned by Charlie Gibson- he fielded softball questions like "how did you meet Michelle?"
No Bush Doctrine questions for Barry.
And- Sarah Palin was NOT blank on the Bush Doctrine question- Charlie Gibson was. SHE understood that there are at least FOUR parts to the Bush Doctrine- and she wanted to clarification from him- about which part he was aking about.

On "The View"- the rabid left-wing Harpies jumped all over McCain- calling him a liar.
Yest- when Barry was there- they fawned all over him, asked him the hard questions like "Is it true you are related to Brad Pitt? And make comments like "We think you are sexy."

Abominal.
Lost all respect for any background as a journalist Barbara "Wa-Wa"- might have had.

So no- Governor Palin will not be ordered around by the media. She made that quite clear from the first time she appeared on the stage in Minneapolis.
She is not running with John McCain to be a media darling. She has a job to do.
And she knows that the drive-by left wing liberal media will throw her under the bus.

She is not running for President- Barack Barry Soetoro Hussein Obama is- and he's the one who can't answer a question without a tele-prompter. Can't wait till the debate Friday!

McCain Palin 2008
God Bless America

You're either an idiot or you don't know how to read.

McCain Palin 2008

Try "Palin/McBush 2008"

Obama has been vetted by the press for nearly 2 years. He got 18 million votes. He's been bashed up one side and down the other. He went to Saddleback and to O'Reilly - both were lion's dens for Democrats, but he did it anyway. I certainly haven't seen McCain have the guts to go on Olbermann, let alone Miss Priss...She hasn't made her bones, and we all know why...she can't take the heat.

Palin knows how to plot and scheme and surround herself w/ loyalists. She knows how to step over and around the bodies she leaves in her wake as she climbs the ladder. I'm sure Bush sees her as deserving to take his place. She's a politician in the worse sense of the word. Problem is, she's been a big fish in a small pond up to this point...not yet ready for prime time. She scares me more than McCain does, and he keeps me up at night...

You might want to wipe that GOP pablum off your mouth - its starting to crust over.

avatar

See folks what idiots like Cool Pillow don't realize is that they have already lost. No self respecting McCain Palin supporter can make a case for them or against Obama without telling lies. Obama had 2 press conferences in the last two days. McCain took 3 questions in his first press conference in over a month. And I am SURE we wont see much of him after Rick Davis has been exposed again with ties to Freddie Mac. You can keep trying to keep treating Palin like china but sooner or later she is going to fall off the shelf and shatter. Poor Poor little Sarah, by the time she is done she is going to lose the presidential race and get impeached when she gets back to Alaska. Talk about the fastest fall from grace ever in political history
