Lighter Side: Palin/Wasilla/Alaska (PG-13)
A couple of quick, light links to pass the time of day;
---
The Boston Phoenix has a short interview with some indy rockers from Wasilla;
Ryan "The Alaskan" Brown, a Wasilla native, former member of Portugal. The Man, and now a bassist in the Boston band Ho-Ag, was equally flabbergasted: "This sucks. I first became conscious of politics when she became mayor, so I’ve been fairly vocal about her since I was 16. She's like Ann Coulter without the balls. . . .
The Broward-Palm Beach New Times talks to a young Wasilla transplant;
Up there, we have a saying: "You never really lose your woman; you just lose your turn."
Which reminded me of an old news report parody, highlighting the shortage of women in the state.

I live in Wasilla, I've never heard of these guys - but the 2nd one is authentic, not a week goes by that I don't hear that quip.
Lots of wife swapping, infidelity and marital mischief - that's for sure - especially if you've always lived in Wasilla.

I read that quote three times and I still don't understand it. Does it mean that because women are a scarce commodity more than one man gets a crack at them?

Ah... I thought the saying was kind of funny, but not if it included the rest of the quote, the bit explaining it. But yeah, he goes on to say that eventually she'll marry one of them.
