Lady MacDeath - A Faustian Bargain of Sinister Deception

When you sell your soul, you never really know the ultimate price at the time of the sinister bargain.  It all seems so easy at first.  A vote here.  A vote there.  And pretty soon you're all the way up to 90% - Prisoner of W - POW-90%!  But that's never enough!  Mephisto wants your complete subjugation.  Till finally you have to agree to a wedding with Death.  A deadly consort is chosen.  *Call her Lady MacDeath.*

Jesus, the community organizer - executed by a governor - chose the opposite path.  If you don't know your bible, then maybe you don't know know the third temptation of Christ - where the devil took him to a high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world.  And told him, you can have all that you see - just bow down and worship me.

Jesus refused the Faustian bargain.  John McCain did not.  The result?  His consort - Lady MacDeath.

Back in the summer I boiled the race down to this formula:  Obama versus The Corpse.  Little did I know!

Here's how I see it now.  Once upon a time we were worried that W would prevent an election and we'd end up with a Dictatorship.  Cheney and Rove had a better idea.  Hold an election.  But insist on a Faustian bargain with the candidate.  W endorses - if you sell your soul.  And the price of the sale?  Well, I doubt that was never really discussed.  Because the thought of all those kingdoms, the thought of all that power.... Well, some can reject the bargain and will never sell their soul for an election.  Obama won't.  But John McCain did.

Now we have Lady MacDeath.

"Waiting for a Corpse" could be one title of this play.  We've had the first two acts.  W.  And W.   One act of W was enough for many.  Two acts of W has been too much for more.  But the third act here is POW - or not.  Our choice.  We hope.  And POW - The Faustian Bargian is not really Senator MacDeath alone - it includes Lady MacDeath, his Handmaiden "Lady in Waiting."

Death and his Consort.

We know by now that bush/cheney/rove was nothing more than a criminal enterprise disguised as government.  It's a stinking pile.  It reeks.  Secrets, deceptions, and lies.  Needing to be hidden.  By more lies.  More disguised government as a criminal enterprise.  And who better to do that than someone who has sold his soul?  Someone of pretense.  And no, I will not bother to count the ways.

But the secret is getting harder and harder to hide.  Because to cover secrets, you need lies.  Lies and deception.  More and more lies.  More and more deception.  But at some point it all piles up so high - that even the press can't pretend ignorance any longer.

The Himalayan size pile of secrecy, lies, and deception is hidden in plain sight now.

The Corpse or Obama.

The Corpse and his Handmaiden, Lady MacDeath - a siren of secrecy and lying - but oh, so enticing!

Or a couple of guys working hard every day and asking us to work right along with them.

I'm just going to say it and take the heat.

"When you sell your soul, you never really know the ultimate price at the time of the sinister bargain."

The Faustian bargain of which you speak may have been made further back than is commonly supposed. There is a ton of information on the Internet that suggests that John McCain was a traitor and not the heroic POW that is his public image. He said in his acceptance speech at the RNC that after they, as he humbly put it, "worked me over pretty good, I broke." This is a technique little understood by most people. It is telling a small truth to hide a much larger lie, in this case the small truth "I broke," implies that his coorperation with the Vietcong was caused by being tortured and obscures the truth that he gave targeting information and made propaganda tapes for the Vietcong. I had somebody on this website take umbrage with me for calling McCain a babykiller, but the targeting information that he revealed resulted in deaths of American pilots, but, in my mind more importantly, revealed that they were civilian target, hospitals, schools, temples, which was strictly against the stated U.S. policy at the time. Here is but one link of many that I have found:

http://www.eaglesnest-2.net/eagles/?q=node/10

I have tried to post on this and am always attacked that it can't be true because how would such a secret be kept. Well, it hasn't been kept. It's right out there if you're willing to do the digging. I believe it is, in fact, how the White House coerced McCain to drop his long-held opposition to torture, that they told him they would ruin his political reputation if he did not acquiesce.

The extent to which it is not commonly known, however, goes to a different truth. The POWs, from what I have read, made a pact not to talk about what individuals did to survive that experience, sort of the "band of brothers'" version of "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas." Thus you hear nothing from those surviving POWs, but, on the other hand, you do not see them supporting McCain. In fact, a POW named Butler is breaking the pact to the extent of making videos to explain why he would not support McCain:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KjsEs46C70

The other reason McCain has been protected from being outed all these years is because he and Senator Kerry together worked for the normalization of relations with Vietnam after the war and the two of them had the unique cred to do so, by virtue of their service in that war. I do not know what political benefit Kerry got from that effort, but it is clear that by agreeing, over the heartfelt pleas of the POW/MIA families, to seal forever the records that would have allowed them to continue searching for their loved ones, McCain received the benefit of securing any paper trail from being released to the public which would mar his future political aspirations.

That he could be so close to being successful in his quest for the Presidency is the scariest prospect I can imagine because, whether he was tortured or not, and there are men who were prisoners at the same camp who say he was not, the other disturbing possibility is that he was subjected to mind control experiments. Follow the links and they will show you that there were many reports of such experiments under the "Manchurian Candidate" type of scenario. I have asked myself the question: What happens to a person who has been the subject of intensive brainwashing and mind control if his masters are no longer in the position of pulling his strings? What mental breakdown does that cause? Is this perhaps the source of the well-documented and legendary McCain temper that has caused even his fellow Republicas to make public statements that they would fear his impulsivity and rage should he ever have the ultimate power to make executive decisions?

I'm not going to give you any heat for what you posted. Here are my thoughts, having read yours:

McCain's temper predates his POW experience (there's ample evidence of that). And there is no doubt that people who have problems to start with will be far more damaged by exposure to war, imprisonment, and torture. Thus, regardless of whether there is a Manchurian candidate type scenario here, we undoubtedly have a man who has willingly sacrificed his honor and veracity even while a Midshipman and before then. The pattern of risky behavior in order to seek thrills or to advance his own interests goes way back. And how could it not have affected his time as a prisoner? He may have taunted his captors. May have provoked them. Did he bargain with them? I don't know. Does he still suffer effects of PTSD? Don't know that either. Not for sure.

However, I have my eye on the ball. And the ball is now - this election and the Faustian bargain he seems to have made.

I'm trying to boil things down to the least common denominator. To take all the threads and tie them together. A story line that will pull people in and get them thinking.

Right now, I'd rather keep to the story line I pulled together here and save your discussion for another thread.

Point taken. Given the general tenor of your argument, do you think if McCain is successful that he should hire a personal bodyguard and food taster? Because methinks Lady McDeath is ambitious and pehaps, more to the point, impatient. I've wondered if McCain has yet grasped that he has become the nonessential element in his own campaign? If he doesn't realize it, you can be sure that She does.

You know, I'm not really into speculations of that type. To what degree he has truly sold his soul and would be controlled by the special interests anyway... I hope we never have to find out!

Rather than speculate on that... how about we work like the dickens for the two guys?

As far as the two partners and soul-mates in lying, well.... they're now stuck with having to campaign together. And she has to somehow prep for the debate with Biden. And there's the press sniffing out every lie and slander they tell. I think it's going to get more and more ridiculous as this circus goes on. You can be a carny liar for just so long... till a tipping point. My post is a nudge toward that point.

So, work for our guys and watch how these two are the undoing of their own ticket.

Selling your soul implies that you have one.

Exacadacally!

Funny, I was just thinking about writing mccain-faustian bargain post, and then I found you beat me to it. Great minds...

Honestly... sometimes an idea is just sitting there, crying out to be written. Your comment reassures me, buddy! Feel free to write up whatever you want and add it as a comment!

Great Minds, indeed!

I think that you nailed it, but if I find a new angle and post on it, I'll credit you.

You're good genghis but I don't think you could out snark this thread. I especially liked the comment about McCain needing a food taster. I remember the suggestions that Obama would need to hire one if he selected Hillary as veep. Its great how those old cliches continue to work.

No rec's from me of course. I never rec snark threads not even one of your's. But this is the type of thread I'm sure will be taken to the top.

Why don't you rec snark if you appreciate it? And for that matter, why don't you snark more often yourself? I've seen you get your snark on. It's good stuff.

Thanks for the compliment from a master. Bitterness, barely suppressed anger, and sarcasm is more my style. In the realm of politics, government, and the news media I can't rise above that. In other areas of my life I can be lighter and my friends think I have a good, if somewhat skewed, sense of humor.

I'm too old to have a clear picture of what snark is anyway. Guess I should check the googles. I don't rec snark because I think there's far too much of it here and far too few posts with serious discussion. I won't encourage it. Those few I appreciate will rise to the top without my rec.

Nice post. I might have called her Lady McDeath, just for consistency, but you were truer to the Shakespearean spelling. I enjoyed it.

I have to admit, it was a tough call. But I went with the Shakespeare. Amazingly, in one post I nailed Goethe, the bible, and Shakespeare. Maybe more, for all I know.

Samuel Becket. Waiting for a Corpse was a specific allusion to Waiting for Godot.

Ooooh... "count the ways"... Browning!

sorry, I am missing the connection from McDeath to "count the ways", (I assume you are referring to Elizabeth Barrett, Browning's wife?)

I loved the post, but:
1) I personally think that Cindy is and looks the part of McDeath much better than Sarah, and
2) I am just calling her Pinnochio Palin, the out of control, lying puppet.

TJ

Thank you for the literary correction. (I plead 63 year old brain... which is one reason I am totally against mccain.)

And you're right that cindy goes along with death.

Pinnochio works!

Thanks for your careful reading here. Most appreciated.

You think the criminal enterprise stops with Bush? Think again. William Jefferson Clinton was knee-deep in it as governor of Ark and as CIC. The evidence is overwhelming, and i can provide links from former special forces soldiers to prove it. The real Faustian cover-up here is to present the idea to you that you have a choice between good and evil -- and you actually believe it. The corruption goes higher than the oval office and we better wake up and deal with it, instead of playing these stupid name-calling games.

Just putting a plug in for a site that's counting Lies Sarah Told. It's like the old mcDonald's where they counted so many "sold." This one counts Lies Told.

So check out: http://countemdown.blogspot.com/

And add your lies to the comments.

........................

Here's an ad I'd love to see: Pack of Lies! Write the lies on cards in a pack. These could be printed with Obama-Biden on one side and a lie on the other side. Different packs for different kinds of lies. Different packs for each repub candidate. Whatever. Next, you show people making a House of Cards with the Packs of LIES.

Simple. Effective.

I picture:

Queen of Liars

King of Liars

Perfect for a pack of cards.

Now you see Obama's wisdom in not picking Hillary as VP -- a politician with her own very obvious issues with the truth.

Here's a site that's tracking Lady MacDeath's lies:

And borrowing from a nearby post:

Worth watching comic video!

Definitely gives you a flavor for Lady MacDeath.

Thanks

And thanks for stopping by.

"Death and his Consort."

So true!!

Fab post!

Thank you, Yva.

For the record, my post is supported by this quote from mcShame via David Ignatius:

In May 2006, after McCain had courted the Rev. Jerry Falwell in an effort to win conservative support, I asked him if he was bending his principles for the sake of winning. "I don't want it that badly," McCain answered. "I will continue to do what is right. . . . If that means I can't get the Republican nomination, fine. I've had a happy life. The worst thing I can do is sell my soul to the devil."

He was right.

(emphasis in bold - mine)
