It's the economy again stupid!
"That was the famous mantra coined by Bill Clinton strategist James Carville in 1992, when he constantly reminded his presidential candidate to focus on issues that mattered to Americans - their jobs, their financial security and their standard of living.
Clinton trounced a stunned George H. W. Bush by fixating on the faltering economy throughout the campaign.
Barack Obama appears to be taking a page from the Carville handbook this week amid the troubles of two of the most storied U.S. investment companies - Merrill Lynch & Co. and Lehman Brothers." Add AIG and you have the perfect storm destroying the gop.
Now, Obama is in the exact same position. A young, relative unknown, when the country is in desperate need of change. I think we can all agree, we long for the good ole days of the Clinton economy.
Carville stated that McLiar's "the economy is fundamentally strong" was a fatal error and I agree. It would be very wise to hire Carville for advice and use both Clintons in the last month to seal the deal.
I would argue to really seal the deal, Biden should step down for "personal reasons", Make Hillary VP but I know the Clintons are hated on this blog.
Back in March, it was Hillary comparing McCain to Herbert Hoover. The Clintons know how to run a robust economy and should be heard and praised on this fact.
Ah, the good ole days.

Except in this economy, mcShame is calling you and me "Fundamentals."
These craven miscreants will stop at nothing to besmirch themselves, their campaign, and our nation itself in their unbridled, unethical, and immoral pursuit of power!
I have had it!
And don't call me a Fundamental either!
I am a person!
I reject and denounce being called a Fundamental.
I call on the mcShame campaign to apologize to Americans for calling them Fundamentals.

Wow!!! gotalife, that is *such* a fab avatar!!!
I don't think Biden is going to step down. He praises Hillary often. That should soothe your soul, no?
Come on. Write more posts attacking McCain, not belittling Obama.
Bigger destiny awaits Hillary. Let it go, gotalife.

Gota, I have no doubt that Hillary will get a plumb appointment by President Obama; one that will be more substantive than VP, and will not require him to battle the duo on a daily basis. It's all going to work out fine!

I probably shouldn't reply to the comment about people on here hating Hilary, but I kind of feel that I have to. My personal feelings about Hilary are somewhat more complicated than something as simple as hate or love. I know this for sure, Barack Obama could never be the President on his own terms, as he needs to be, if he has the Clintons hanging around his neck. Now, that's a fact that's hard to deny. So try to believe that Obama thought it over and decided that all things being equal he ran a greater risk by chosing her than by not doing so.

Love the retro avatar - one of my faves! Hey!!!! You switched again - between when I wrote my post and got this buggy comment system to log me in! New one's pretty cool too.
I've been hearing people say that Hillary as VP thing over at Huffington post. It doesn't have anything to do with hating Hillary - the idea simply seems crazy to me!
Just when the winning stride seems to be found - even by your standards - why shake things up like that? I see bringing in advice, but wouldn't changing the ticket just switch focus from the economy right back interpersonal drama? I don't think the media would discuss anything but the VP switch and catfight between Clinton and Palin from now to election day if that happened.
I also think Hillary has far better opportunity in the senate - VP seems sort of beneath her.
