Has McCain Succeeded in Switching Places with Obama?
Is anyone else concerned that McCain has found an issue in this bailout that enables him to run with the statement that he's fighting for the people against the combined will of the Bush administration and Obama?
Seriously... after months of the Obama campaign constantly harping on how closely tied McCain and Bush are, will McCain now be able to deflect all of that in the next debate with a simple "I'm a maverick, trying to protect the people of America from this bailout plan being pushed by Bush, while Obama is working with the rest of his Washington allies to force it down our throats."
Right or wrong, it's the kind of simple story that the McCain campaign has been effective in using in the past. Like all of the other times, he will ignore the facts and gloss over all of his inconsistencies, focusing on hammering his single point.
By the next debate, will the new meme be "McCain vs. Bush/Obama"?

Except he was for the bailout. Before he was against it. I think he's for it again, now.
