GAMBLERS for mcCain!
Some of you may recall that wonderful group, Billionaires for Bush, which still has a website and staged so many fun interventions at Bush events.
This post addresses a similar crying need for urgent action! A call for all hands on deck! A necessity to organize immediately! Because a group of voters has, till now, not been inadequately represented. And as a public service, I think we need to do something - on behalf of mcShame's love of gambling and gamblers and particularly gambling lobbyists.
Thanks to blogger UTMark, this group already has a motto:
Down the Drain
With mcCain
And assisted by blogger jzap, the official photo now has lipstick on it.
With the help of other bloggers, including Tena and acumus, further insights into the official photo have been analyzed. For example, the animal being rescued has been thought to say: "Thanks, but no thanks!" (something which many gamblers often say when urged give up their addiction)
Indeed the gamblers, like mcCain himself, simply dig themselves into a deeper hole... as you can see from the photo. Yes, like their mentor, his followers just want to go:
Into the Muck
With mcF*#k
Now, before we get into the many events you can attend with your homemade sign, Gamblers for mcCain, such as your local Mega Church or other abode of fundamentalists or evangelicals, we need to look more closely at our mascot, that trapped animal with the lipstick. Notice.... that by squinting really hard, you can nearly imagine the dangling ear rings. And, visible only to the initated and the imaginative, don't forget the ear marks.
Now, this task is so urgent that I simply cannot sit on this news. I need to get it out. And so do you. So please, put your thinking caps on and then get your poster paper, your magic markers, you local sign company, to assist you. Attend a mcShame event near you as a Gambler for mcCain. Consider all the possibilities here. And leave no Mooselinni unturned!
Thanks, but no thanks, to those to any who simply want to sit on the sidelines (instead of quickly recommending). NO, this is a task for urgent action! It needs to catch fire and be widely spread. Indeed others may want to add this very post to their own private blogs. ASAP!
You have your mission.

Uh oh. McCain might have just locked up the crucial "Compulsive Gambler" swing vote in Nevada.
As well as the small, but highly influential "Evil Knievel" voters, who are always appreciative of the random high-risk political stunt.

Little did I know when I wrote this yesterday, regarding the big gamble of Sarah and the alternative gamble of "no Sarah." The most important gambling decision of mcShame's entire life:
ok... now about next Thursday.... hmmm.. what are we gonna do?
Yeah.. cuz if we cut her loose... she's gonna turn on us!
hmmm.... can we pay her off somehow?
How can you prevent her from turning on us? Then, she'd have the money - could show the money!
Hmmmm... sigh.... Doesn't she realize it's country first?
She wants the country! First!
There's gotta be a solution. There's always a solution!
How about that praying pastor? Could we pay him off? Bring him down .... he gets the "word" from God almighty....
She'll say she has a different word!
Dear Lord.....
Yes?
OMG!
Yup! Karma sucks, doesn't it?

I have just posted a fresh blog.
Washington Post reporting that Sarah Palin is being investigated by the Alaska State Ethic board for something she did, just three days before McCain named her as his VP pick. The thing that makes this really worth watching is they had already ruled that she had violated the law by having done the same thing on her official website.
Read all about it, and click it on up. Sarah is more corrupt than the guy she replaced.

Just so this story does not get lost today:
Turtle Soup?
While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher who's hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Palin and her bid.
The old rancher said, "Well, ya know, Palin is a 'Post Turtle'".
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post turtle' was.
The old rancher said, "When you're driving down a country road you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top - that's a 'post turtle".
The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. "You know she didn't get up there by herself, she doesn't belong up there, and she doesn't know what to do while she's up there, and you just wonder what kind of dummy put her up there to begin with".

Speaking of gambling, I just posted this elsewhere, but check out Sunday's NY Times front page article on McCain and Gambling - very lengthy investigative piece that goes for TWO full pages inside - It is compelling reading:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/28/us/politics/28gambling-web.html?hp
"For much of his adult life he and his associates have been travelling to Las Vegas for week-end gambling marathons..." Dozens of lobbyists and bundlers with ties to gambling and lotteries, conflicts of interest. It is very compelling (and time consuming) reading. I do hope Dobbs and Cafferty get on this pronto. Olberman, Matthews, Stewart, Colbert, Maddow ----
If he's so addicted to gambling, can anyone imagine what he'd do with the economy, our defense (just bomb away and bet we'll win quickly).
He can't possibly win now, and then there will hopefully be a Senate ethics investigation, but then again that may be wishful thinking with Reid as Majority Leader.

Somebody figured out the words!!! Fantastic!
Freedom and justice and liberty. I'm going to lower the working class taxes and make tastier food. John McCain's opposed to Hurricanes. But I voted against him. John McCain voted to ruin your life, eight days. Gotta give it to him, the man's got experience.
Enough(sound bite from Sen. Obama)! This time we won' t take more of the same. It's time for a change. Yeah. You're a wolf in sheep's clothing. Dick Cheney in a skirt. oh, Pretend you don't know. You're running from your shadow. I'm gonna use a better military strategy, and take care of our soldiers
I'm gonna go to Afghanistan myself and brush the dirt of these shoulders. John McCain thought the war was a great idea. He said it would be easy. Now we're all split thin, and have to get what we need to build up in Afghanistan. We've got Wall Street scrambling, Greenspan gasping and you say we're doing just fine. But you can't just sprinkle sugar on a piece of sh*t and convince people that it Easter. Oh, yeah.

"Gambling" with $100.00 chips by McCain is no different than playing a video game. Gambling is when you are using the rent or grocery money! He is just showing off with his wife's obscene money. None of it he did to earn it himself. He can never go broke. That's when you are gambling. I'm sure even some TPM readers know the difference. He can blow everything he has personally and it wouldn't put a dent in his or his old lady's lifestyle. 7 houses, 13 cars will all be there. It's funny the only article I read has him winning thousands. Nothing about losing thousands. Just like Bill Bennett. Of course he plays in casino's who's executives pay a lot to play. And the money on a crap table isn't traceable.
September 28, 2008 5:13 PM | Reply | Permalink
I understand exactly what you're saying. The money is not "real" to him. Just the thrill.
And his winnings may be planned by the casino so as to keep him happy.
But the fundies will care about that aspect. It will not play well.
For mcShame, the ultimate gamble is this election. And that he will feel for sure.

OK - I've been busy after a long run to think this through. In addition to the organized crime Dee Dee refers to just above - I think we can both of them on TAXES - at least I fervently hope. I sent my letter off to the NY Times requesting an answer on TAXES. Then I emailed Cafferty, and Dobbs requesting coverage of this story.
How do I find McCain's tax returns for 2006 and 2007 on line? All I found was the Senate Ethics forms on the Open Secrets web site and it's horrible. The IRS has specific guidelines on this:
http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=108277,00.html
"Gambling winnings are fully taxable and must be reported on your tax return. Gambling income includes, but is not limited to, winnings from lotteries, raffles, horse and dog races and casinos, as well as the fair market value of prizes such as cars, houses, trips or other noncash prizes.
It seems to me there are dozens who could be caught up in this among his lobbyist pals.
All this is really serious. We're all maxed out on too much news but there's only 35 or so more days left, early voting has already started in some states, and we have to get this story out and insist that the cable news stations cover it. If we can just get it into a prominent place on CNN and MSNBC, that should be enough. Plus, we're competing with the bailout issues and the debates.

I am NOT a tax person. Here's the links - I will pray fervently tonight that Dobbs and Cafferty get on this story. I've had it for now - and I still have not read Frank Rich! And I want some wine.

I did not see any reporting of gambling income and I certainly do not think he's "reformed" or anything like that - If anything, he's probably much worse on the gambling since I sincerely believe he is quite crazy. Somebody has to carry on - Someone who is a "forensic CPA" - that's what my boyfriend just told me. Any of you "forensic CPA's" out here? I'm liberal arts.

Anyone notice that Roger Simon's favorable piece in politico 2 days ago starts off with an anecdote about McCain shooting craps?
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13920.html
"have watched John McCain shoot craps for hours. He shakes the dice in his left hand, blows gently into his fist and then, with a somewhat awkward loft — both his arms were broken when he ejected from his A-4 Skyhawk over Hanoi in 1967 — he sends the cubes tumbling down the table.
Craps is his favorite casino game, and he understands that it is high risk, but he believes you can win if you place your bets correctly. “All you need,” he says, “is a little luck.” "

The tax angle is probably a dead end because the casinos would never have reported the income on a certain type of W2 and just let it go because 1) it's McCain, and 2) he has lobbying friends who work for the casinos. Why would the casinos even bother to report it? This is all so incredibly corrupt and is going to take a huge effort to get McCain on the gambling and taxes. He will just lie and say he doesn't gamble and therefore does not have income to report. There must be pictures or witnesses who will actually testify and this would take a very long time to uncover...months, even years.
How are we going to get rid of him?

Long time. You're right. It's discouraging. Well, first we have to win. Next, get the US Attorneys looking into gambling, tax evasion, etc. We've got so many rocks to look under, we could be doing it from now till kingdom come.
At this point, I'd just love to see some people finding creative ways to get the word out to the fundies in particular. They will not be thrilled to join forces with "Gamblers for mcCain."
So, first things first. We have to elect Barack. To do so, we need to soften up mcCain any way we can that's within bounds.
Gamblers for mcCain is all in good fun! So enjoy indulging in fantasies or gather some friends to crash a mcCain event with your signs. Or simply park in a fundie lot. With signs in your car. Or whatever suits your fancy.
Peace. Hang in there. And if all else fails, comfort yourself in the knowledge that mcShame's biggest gamble is the election... one he's doing his best to lose big! And after that, his next gamble is mortality. And with several bouts of cancer.... well.....
Peace be unto you, my friend.

Let's just see what Senators and Reps endorse McCain after they finish cheating all of us with the bail out. I live in Illinois but Durbin is a wimp (He's also the second ranking Democrat in the Senate) What about those who live in Lugar's state, or Olympia Snow, or John Warner (even though he is retiring.) Then, if you have the misery to live in a red state, you can at least put pressure on your reps to NOT endorse McCain. I still have not given up on the NY Times either. What else do they have on him? They can't just let this story drop after one day, can they? Enough, and thank you for starting this post.
