FINALLY! WSJ & Atlanta Journal Constitution call Palin a LIAR! "And her image is increasingly that of a guiltless liar."

avatar

LIES, DAMN LIES and..... SARAH PALIN!!

What is it going to take for the media to stop broadcasting the daily pathological lying event of the Sarah Palin/John McShame CONpaign?

There is a point that a person loses ALL credibility and Palin/McShame passed it about 11 days ago and the "STARS" of AMERICAN MEDIA are quickly approaching that same "uncredible" reputation

EVEN THE WALL STREET JOURNAL points out the glaring problem of the lies Palin keeps repeating. HERE

The WSJ also makes the point that Palin has begun to lie about EARMARKS (same link as above)

"At a rally today, Sen. McCain again asserted that Sen. Obama has requested nearly a billion in earmarks. In fact, the Illinois senator requested $311 million last year, according to the Associated Press, and NONE this year. In comparison, Gov. Palin has requested $750 million in her two years as governor -- which the AP says is the largest per-capita request in the nation!

The Atlanta Journal Constitution says the following, HERE

As the McCain campaign points out, both Barack Obama and Joe Biden have requested earmarks and voted for earmarks. Neither is anything close to pure on this issue. But neither Democrat is claiming otherwise. They aren’t trying to deny reality. Nor are they trying to construct their entire political identity on that falsehood.

Palin — with the full backing and support of the McCain campaign — is doing herself longterm political damage with this ploy. The American people are watching her repeatedly lie to them, day after day, and watching her do so with no apparent compunction. This is her introduction to the national scene; this is when her image is being cemented into the public mind.

And her image is increasingly that of a guiltless liar.

FINALLY! At least the PRINT media is waking up, now if the BROADCAST media would pull their heads' out of HER ass and wipe off their nose's maybe they could see the lies that PALIN and McSHAME have been spouting, and how utterly STUPID and AFRAID the MSM appear.

EVERY DAY, BRIAN WILLIAMS, CHARLIE GIBSON, KATIE COURIC, DAVID GREGORY, WOLF BLITZER, ANDERSON COOPER, LARRY KING, SOLEDAD OBRIEN, LOU DOBBS, ANDREA MITCHELL, CAMPBELL BROWN etc... lose more and more credibility and have actually started to look like THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE or worse THAT THEY DON'T CARE.

McSHAME/PALIN have played the media like violin and the worst part is the media DOESN'T EVEN SEEM TO REALIZE IT!

GOD HELP US ALL IF THIS IS ANY INDICATION OF THE TYPE OF COVERAGE WE WILL GET THE REST OF THE WAY.

HOW DO YOU FIGHT LIES WHEN THE MAIN STREAM MEDIA HAS BASICALLY BECOME AN
"UN-INDICTED" CO-CONSPIRATOR?

Please rec'd this and send it to a few friends! THANKS!

Love it!

that's the spirit. I think the point you make about particular MSM newscasters is true--it makes them look pretty clueless when they nod and not challenge a blatantly false talking point. The McCain campaign is just dancing on the heads of the MSM--Campbell Brown has been the only one who stopped McCain spokespeson Tucker Bounds in his tracks when he was doubletalking about Palin's foreign policy creds.

Why can't the press just say, look, if you want to lie, that's up to you, but you're not coming on our show to do it. Period. End of story.

The media needs to create some standards for coverage and broadcasting during elections. We need referees or something.
The new McCain sex ed ad against Obama should be rejected by every media outlet and any one that chooses to air it should be slammed by the american people for doing it. I think we need to go to battle with the media because they have the power to say no to broadcasting lies and ads that are not factual. They can refuse and force the advertising to be based in reasonable facts.
The situation is out of control but I think WE have to do something about it! We must find a way to fight back!

Sabotage the FOX broadcast vans as a first step. A good pair of bolt cutters will work fine.

I love it.

Hey doofus, That 'article' from the AJC was in fact from a leftwing blogger on AJC.com, and the AJC is known as a left leaning paper anyway. Sorry to pop your bubble, but no one is going to give that any credibility.

Hey troll, the AJC is by far the most important and widely-read paper in Georgia, whether you like it or not.

It wasn't in the AJC, it was in a blog on AJC.com

I'm aware that this is not a statement by the AJC editorial board. The diarist is indeed mistaken about that. See my comment below.

The point I'm making here is that it doesn't matter what you personally think of the AJC. Hundreds of thousands of people do read it, and it's safe to say that its online edition is also the most popular in Georgia. Your views are not representative of anyone but the right-wing nutjobs who wouldn't vote for the Democratic candidate in any event. In short, no one cares what you think.

For fuck sake, would someone fix this website?

The piece quoted was written and posted by Jay Bookman of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

In this mixed-media era, Bulldog with Lipstick is getting his panties in a twist because Bookman's piece might not be on the paper version of the AJC. Maybe Bullpuppy should be complaining that it also wasn't sent out on broadsheet pamphlets, or announced by the Town Crier.

Regardless, here's what the AJC says about Bookman:

Jay Bookman is columnist and deputy editorial page editor of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, specializing in foreign relations, the environment and state and local politics. He has twice won national awards for editorial writing — the National Headliner Award (1998) and the Scripps-Howard National Journalism Award (1993) — and the Green Eyeshade Award for editorial writing (2005) and is a seven-time winner of the Best of Cox Newspapers awards for editorials and for columns. In addition, his work on environmental issues has been recognized with the Aldo Leopold Award, granted by the Wilderness Society (1998), and the American Conservation Award (1994), by the National Wildlife Federation. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with degrees in history and journalism. He has lived in Atlanta since 1990, and previously worked for newspapers in Washington state, Nevada and Massachusetts. His first book, “Caught in the Current,” was published by St. Martin’s Press in July, 2004.

That's a defense against what the Wall Street journal wrote? Seriously, Dog, you need to raise the bar a little bit for your acceptable standards of conduct for elected officials.

I expect my elected leaders not to associate with known terrorists, not to make illegal land deals with Syrian nationalist convicted slum lords, and not to spend 20 years in a 'church' that supports Farrakhan and attacks America. That's the standard I hold them to, how about you?

You know what bulldog? I was much too gentle

Get a clue you doofus or better yet JUST GO AWAY!
You are just regurgitating GOP bullshit, how does it taste, you fracking bottom feeder.

YOU SIR, ARE A DISGRACEFUL HUMAN BEING, I IMAGINE YOU POST HERE IS BECAUSE EVEN THE LUNATIC FRINGE OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY WON'T HAVE YOU. Can't say I blame them.

Terrorists? Jesus God you moron look up McCain's father in law, NOT his first father in law, the father in law the HERO ended up with after he lied and cheated while his first wife was in the HOSPITAL TRYING NOT TO DIE FROM A CAR ACCIDENT. Look it up I dare you, Look up "Mr. Hensley" and his ties to the mob and MURDER. I'll give McCain some credit for serving in the military, but I won't make him a GOD, like you have.

But has anybody brought up that McCain denounced America while he was a POW? Or have you heard anyone take on McCain about his rape joke or his Chelsea Clinton, joke. Has ANYONE made a talking point out of him cheating on his first wife while she lay in a hospital almost dead, or McCain not cutting off the BITCH comment? NO! Because at least Barack Obama has shown some restraint, if the tables were turned YOU KNOW the GOP and their "ARMY OF DARKNESS" like Limbaugh, Hannity, Cunningham, Coulter and FUCKS NEWS would be talking it up everyday.

YOU SIR, ARE A DISGRACEFUL HUMAN BEING, I IMAGINE YOU POST HERE IS BECAUSE EVEN THE LUNATIC FRINGE OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY WOULDN'T HAVE YOU.

What about McCain getting into the Naval academy ONLY because his Father and His Grandfather were Naval Royalty. And then graduating 5th FROM THE BOTTOM in his class. Has Obama gone after this, NO.

I'll stop now I'd hate for you to miss your daily fix of SPINE from Limbaugh and his ilk etc...

If you can't get a life at least get a clue!

To everyone else...SORRY for my temporary loss of control!

Typical idiotic liberal. I note you made no defence of OBambi's ties to Ayres the terrorist, or Rezko the slum lord, or Farrakhan and Wright. No, you prefer to attack me, someone you know nothing about. As far as McCain using influence to enlist into the Navy at the height of the war and volunteering for one of the most dangerous assignments, well, that says a lot about his character, unlike Biden and his 5 deferments. The rest of your garbage wasn't even worth responding to, except to point out that it was lies - like his first wife lying in the hospital, when in fact she had the accident long before he came home and met him at the airport. How dare you intrude into what happened between them in their marriage? How is that a campaign issue? You are the pathetic human being.

How dare you intrude into what happened between them in their marriage?

Calling out an adulterer who threw over his first FAMILY (not just his injured wife) to marry an heiress (whom he now shows complete disrespect for, I might add) is a LEGITIMATE point!

Republican Family values: An Oxymoron. You, however are just the last half of that.

Doesn't it bother you to have someone proudly espouse outright lies, assuming you are too stupid to know the difference? Never mind. I know the answer to that.

CVille - you're spewing nonsense.

Here's a hint - when you're digging into people's bedroom and laundry, you've probably run off the road and past the ditch.

An adulterer? Like Bill CLinton, your hero? So that is a legit issue now? As far as disrespect, based on what? The unsubstantiated claims of some left wing kook that claimed with no evidence that he heard McCain insult his wife? Did you see the interview with her? She was totally devoted/in love with this guy after 30 years. Deal with that.

You mean the shit the GOP put Clinton through?

Your bunch is more concerned about a Blow Job than a Political Power play with the U.S. Justice Dept. that Bush/McCain/Rove tried to pull.

Doesn't Palin firing the state of Alaska's Director of Public Safety because he wouldn't fire someone sound REALLY familiar?

"M O E R O N"

"notsoCLEVERBULLDOG"
NO,IT WASN'T from "A Leftwing Blogger" NICE TRY though. See below.
And why do you appear to be so agitated and emotional? You should get your facts straight or as Confucius says "Put your mind in gear before mouth in motion" But what can we expect from a dog? And OH, by the way I notice you said noting about the WSJ.

"Jay Bookman is columnist and deputy editorial page editor of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, specializing in foreign relations, the environment and state and local politics. His comment was in a blog. He is a left wing reporter. Hence, a left wing blog. Regarding the WSJ, first Palin's requests (note she has to ask for grants, Obama,as a senator, is able to grant them) are way less than her predecessor. McCain claimed Obama requested nearly a billion, and the WSJ defends O by claiming he requested none this year and 'only' 311 million last year. Well, what about the 2 years prior? If at the same rate, that would make a billion like McCain said.

Why agitated? Because I am sick of the leftist press trying to smear Palin, trying to smear McCain, and then comparing Obama to Jesus. Where are the reporters looking into Obama's connections to Ayres, a known terrorist? Or his land deals with Rezko? Obama has gotten a free pass for 19 months.

Stop feeding Bulltroll.

Agree. Why does it continue to get attention here?

If it had something other than standard right-wing talking points to offer, the conversation might be stimulating and compelling. I never see anything from it that isn't standard right-wing orthodoxy.

Encouraging, but it's not the AJC speaking. It's a byline editorial.

The truth turkey says,

GoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbelsGoebbels.ROVE.........

It's hasn't been the "Mainstream Media" for a long time. It's the "Ccorporate Mmedia" now, and they are almost completely bought and paid for by big oil, big pharma, big insurance, and all the other corporate interests that stand between the middle class and affordable (and universal) health care, and so many things that are so important -- and whose advertising revenues are the life blood of the media.

Like all bubbles, this one will burst. Obama did not want to attack back until after the 9-11 remembrances today. Look to the weekend and next week to be much more aggressive -- and focused entirely on McCain (Palin comes up only in the sense that she is a remorseless liar who we know nothing about, but who clearly is not this reformer that McCain has been making her out to be, so we are back to his decision to choose someone who would be totally unprepared to fulfill her most important responsibility.

If Mccain's skin flares up between now and the election, people will have to ask themselves if they can really see Palin as President, given all of the complex problems we face at home and abroad. And with the exception of Rush Limbaugh and a very loud, but not that large, segement of the GOP (which lives mostly in states that vote red anyway), few people are all that comfortable with the decision when you put it that way. Everything he has done for the past 4 weeks speaks to a calculating politician whoe doesn't care about the truth of what he says and does. Another reminder of the 8 years we have suffered with two other calculating politicians with no regard for the truth.

I appreciate you pointing this stuff out but maybe you could back off on the all caps styling a bit.

LOL!

Oops.

lol!

How about this for an ad?:

How about this for an ad?:

Start w/a clip of McCain saying Obama has requested nearly a billion in earmarks, then come to a screetching halt. Narrator: "No, that wasn't Barack Obama, that was John McCain's running mate. She's requseted over $750m in earmarks for Alaska; more per person than any other state in the nation. And that's just as governor. She even hired Washington lobbists, like the dozens now running John McCain's campaign, to score over $25 million in earmarks for her town of 5,000 people. Seems John McCain can't decide whether earmarks are good or bad. We don't need any more of the same old hypocricy from our elected officials. America doesn't need more of the same. It's time for a change."

Man I miss the AJC, I used to live in Athens and I read it faithfully. Now I just have to appreciate it online...

I actually was watching the news yesterday, and they were actually starting to savage McCain and Palin on this issue, lipstick and the child predator issues. I do think the Broadcast Media is starting to come out of their stupor a little.

Andrea Mitchell, on morning Joe, I believe, even asked "what's happened to us?"
