Family Values ... and Good Judgment
Sarah Palin -- just another hockey mom championing family values from the governor's office.
Well, family values begin with good judgment on family matters. Nothing is more important than providing children with a good example of sound, adult judgment. Sarah Palin life shows a woeful lack of good judgment in family planning.
In this day and age, how does a mature woman -- over forty -- have an unplanned pregnancy?
Why would a mature woman who is as strongly anti-abortion as Sarah Palin plan a pregnancy given the substantial risk of having a child afflicted with Downs Syndrome?
What do women think of her judgment on family planning?
Do women expect a good judgment on family planning matters from a female governor?

Many women choose to have children after age 40. There is an increased risk of birth defects for older women, but it is no one's business to tell a women she is too old to have a child.
I also find it ironic that Democrats care that Palin's 17 year old daughter is pregnant. Since when do Democrats care about sex outside of marriage? I thought anything goes with you guys.
I respect Palin for living a life of "pro-life". She is not all talk. Twice now, she chose LIFE over what is easy. Once to have a Down's Syndrome child; next to encourage her teenage daughter to do the right thing and marry and have the child. We can all learn important lessons from her example.

momofthree,
I agree with you,"It's no one's business to tell a woman she is too old to have a child."
That having been said, it seems to me that a woman over 40 making a conscious decision to have a child is making a conscious decision to take a serious risk -- a risk that easily could be avoided and a risk that profoundly affects a child. While I do not advocate telling a woman she is too old to have a child, I do have the right to consider the wisdom of candidate's decisions when she tell us that she is all about family values.
Personally, I find nothing of inspiration about a woman whose judgment led her to undertake such a risky pregnancy. I wonder how a woman can make such a decision and then speak about family values. God gave her intelligence, freewill and the knowledge to avoid such a risk -- and she chose the risk anyhow.
The best indication of the judgments she will make in the future are the quality of the judgments she has made in the past.
Thank you for taking the time to read, consider and respond to my post.
May God bless you.
