Even in a blue state, most believe media roots for Obama

avatar

This is worth noting:

A new Survey USA poll among voters in the state of Washington --conducted on September 2-- has found that,

"When we asked Washington voters who they thought the Media was rooting for, 52% said Barack Obama…while only 8% feel the Media is rooting for John McCain.  35% think the Media is trying to be fair to both of them."

This is significant for two reasons:

1) Washington is a blue state, so imagine what the opinion would be in America as a whole, and

2) Blogs such as this one always whine that the media loves McCain.

Why do so many people fail to see what you claim to see?

given statistical variance, it basically says half of people believe one way and the other half believe the other way. Having living in Washington most of my life, which is basically split between the west, overall liberal but with the money infusion increasingly conservative, and the east which is basically rural Midwest (where I live now), it reflects the current polls, where Obama is slightly ahead of McCain. A lead that Obama has basically held the entire time and McCain has been unable, even while Obama was body surfing Hawaii, to overtake.

Huh? Only 8% said the media is rooting for Obama, and you claim that given to whatever you just said it's a tie?

Even allowing for all the undecided to be added to the "media-is-pro-McCain" choice, which is a ridiculous thing to do, the "rooting for Obama" choice comes out on top.

The way I see it there is likely a slant from the media at this point after having scrutinized him and finding him to be a man of character that is not basing his campaign on lying about his opponents. So there is not much left to attack at this point. The attacks I hear from them today are 'is he going to let McCain/Palin get away with this?'

However there is plenty to attack in the lies that the republicans have told this week. Yet, the media in general will not hit McCain and the republicans hard for their lies. In fact they will not likely confront them at all with the exception of Kieth Olberman or Rachel Maddow.

I don't think that the media favors Senator Obama in their coverage. I think many in the media appreciate the integrity of the candidate. Does't mean it helps him win...
