Comrade George and Comrade John
One thing must be made clear: A Republican Administration has just nationalized the financial services sector of the economy. There is no other way to accruately label it with even a modicum of intellectualy honesty as anything else. Now I must state that this does not bother me at all although I am concerned that the bad folks who created this mess (in and outside this administration) will not pay the price they should. I concluded many years ago after watching what goes on in Washington from an inside position that a free market is one rigged in my favor. Free markets do not exist and never have. That is what lobbyist do: rig markets for their clients. [I am not a lobbyist nor have I ever been one.]
I think that the direction the nationalization appears to be heading is probably the best for the nation. But let no one tell you diiferently: this action fits wthin the framework of classic European socialism.
Although there are good people suffering (and more will suffer I fear), one of the delicious ironies is watching Republicans advocate a massive nationalization exceeded in scale only by those of such capitist luminaries as Lenin, Mao, and Fidel.
If you have a Republican acquaintance who annoys you with his/her free market fundamentalist nonsense, address them as Comrade next time you see them and ask how Comrade George and Comrade John are doing. You may also wish to ask them what they think about the upcoming emergency meeting of the Republican National Committee where Comrades George and John will have it unanimously change the name of the RNC to the Republican Socialist Party Committee of America (RSPCA).
In short, do not put up with any nonsense from them. They are the one's responsible.
