Can Ethanol help Obama bag Ohio?
During the debate, John McCain reiterated his goal of dropping
subsidies to the ethanol industry. Obama, who comes from a corn state,
has no such plans. Now may be the time for 527s and others to start
reminding Ohio voters that Obama is on their side. It's his best shot
at making inroads into rural Ohio, where Republicans typically lead. If
Obama can be perceived as the friend of the farmer, it might be enough
to get them to break with tradition and vote Democratic.
