Batter Up! Tapper requests queries for Palin (updated)
We are starting to see the press get a wee bit cranky as the countdown clock until Gov. Palin finally is finally released to meet the press keeps on ticking. Jake Tapper at ABC News is requesting input on things we would very much like the ask her, but for now at least, can't.
Have any really good ideas? We're not talking softballs here...we need a really good change up, something that will leave her in a twist. How about a question or two designed to peel away any independents tempted by her feisty, faux reformer image?

Thanks for the link.
Done. I submitted a boring but straight-forward question that avoids any of the side-tracking squabbles about her personality or ideology. My question was, simply:
Besides what's on record about Palin's education and professional experience, is their any additional educational or professional background that would qualify her to be leader of government and commander-in-chief of the most powerful nation in the world?

I would like to hear her answer to this...
IS THE 'PILL' TANTAMOUNT TO ABORTION?

That's a great question, get's at the heart of what do you know and when did you know it!
Perhaps she picked something up in those five schools she attended in six years.
But, as my wife pointed out today, let's not underestimate her. She seems a quick study. Heck, she read that convention speech like she actually knew about Russia, Georgia, etc.

"Heck, she read that convention speech like she actually knew about Russia, Georgia, etc."
The operative word is "reading."
Not surprising since she was a journalism major in college and has worked as a sports broadcaster.
Six colleges in six years doesn't support the "quick study" mantra we keep hearing from the Repubs.

Here's my question: "Do you approve of the intensity of the media's scrutiny of Barack Obama over the last 19 months has been justified?"
Follow up: "Given that you are even less familiar to most Americans than Barack Obama was when he embarked on his candidacy, is there any reason why you would not expect the media to hold you to a similar standard?"

I wonder after accepting the nomination and being briefed by the McCain camp, what she expects her role will be within the McCain administration since she (hopefully) learned what it is the VP does...

Question for Sarah: A major survey on American attitudes toward religion published in May 2008 found that more than half of Americans rank the importance of religion very highly in their lives, attend religious services regularly and pray daily. Moreover 92% believed in God or a "universal spirit." In light of the strong religious beliefs of a large majority of Americans, would you favor a constitutional ammendment stipulating that the United States is a Christian nation, or alternatively that we recognize a supreme being?

Mrs. Palin - If your ticket loses this year, do you plan on running for president in 2012? If so, do you expect the people you'd be running against in the GOP primaries (Romney, Giuliani, Huckabee, et al.) to attack you on your experience, your family life and other issues about which they've defended you over the past week, or do you think they'll campaign against you based strictly on your policy positions?

I submitted a question too, thanks for the link.
It's not likely I'll see her at my local Wasilla Blockbuster anytime soon, (like I used to) and ask her myself.

Mrs. Palin can you explain how you left a town with $0 debt when you entered office in 1996 with $22 million in debt when you left office in 2002 even though you hired a Jack Abramoff associate to lobby for your town in Washington and he - along with your friend Ted Stevens - managed to get Wasilla $27 million in federal pork while you were mayor? Can you explain why three of these pork projects wound up on Senator McCain's annual wasteful spending list? How does this jibe with your claim that you are a reformer who is against pork?

Gov. Palin,
It has been reported that while mayor of Wasilla, you asked the city librarian if she would be okay with the idea of removing objectionable books from the city library. It has also been reported that after she objected to this idea, you attempted to fire her.
Are these reports accurate? Did you ask the city librarian if she would be okay with banning books from the library? Did you ask her to remove any books? And finally, what books were you considering having banned from the library, and why did you find them objectionable?

I suggested a simple "yes or no" question - only a one-word answer: Will Jews, Roman Catholics, Hindus, Buddhists, and others go to heaven?
The minute she either begins to dance around it or answers "no" (which we know she would) she alienates many, many people...

Gov. Palin,
If you had your way and abortion was made illegal even in cases of rape, what punishment should the state impose on a rape victim who terminates a pregnancy that occurs as a result of that rape?

Unless she grants press access, I think we need some basics:
Why are you qualified to be the vice president?
What is your foreign policy experience?
Have you managed a government during a fiscal crisis?
Other than firing those that disagree, what is your method of resolving disagreements?

Good news...seems like this countdown clock idea is picking up stream in the MSM. Maybe it will drown out the made up non-story about McCain people rescuing American flags from the trash to which they were condemned by those unpatriotic Dems.
Meanwhile, these questions are great!
Hope you are posting them on Jake's page. Last time I looked his blog was filled with loop right wingnuts taunting anyone who would question anything about poor Sarah.

Thanks - I left a question.
I want to know, in light of my experience as a woman and a lawyer, how it feels to be waltzed into a position of amazing power and authority by an old guy who needed a boost, and being promoted, in effect, over more qualified women like Kay Bailey Hutchsion. I want to know how it feels to be Cinderella.

"How does it feel?" That's a question!! But before she could answer it, her entourage would have to throw off their jackets, snap their fingers, and become back-up dancers. Then she could explain . . .
"I feel pretty,
Oh, so pretty,
I feel pretty and witty and bright!
"And I pity
Any girl who isn't me tonight.
I feel charming,
Oh, so charming
It's alarming how charming I feel!
And so pretty
That I hardly can believe I'm real.
"See the pretty girl in that mirror there:
Who can that attractive girl be?
Such a pretty face,
Such a pretty dress,
Such a pretty smile,
Such a pretty me!
"I feel stunning
And entrancing,
Feel like running and singing aloud!
For I'm loved
By a guy who spent five years as a POW!"

Do you find it offensive that the McCain campaign is keeping you sheltered from the press, indicating he doubts your ability to play with the big boys?
Dr. Dobson said in his book Adolescent Rebellion that teenage pregnancies are caused by parental neglect. How would you respond to that? Do you find it hypocritical that given that statement, he endorses your candidacy?
Given that you said just a few weeks ago, "I'm a hockey mom from Alaska, they aren't going to ask me to be vice president." (indicating that you felt you weren't qualified) why do you think they asked you to be on the ticket?
Why have you not corrected John McCain when he said you sold the plane on eBay at a profit?
Why did you initially say you would be cooperating with the "Trooper Investigation" and now are refusing to do so.
Whose idea was it to have the father of your teenage daughter's baby involved in the convention after you asked that the press leave your family out of this and respect their privacy?
Whose idea was it to disparage Community Organizers in your acceptance speech? Was it given to you to read? Or was that your idea? Given that Jesus was a community organizer, do you regret your comments?
Have you ever cc'd your husband on State business e-mails, and if so, why?
I could go on and on...

Thank you for the link: this is the question I posted:
It is unlikely, but possible, that something could happen to put you in charge almost immediately. William Henry Harrison died after he'd been in office only a month in office. If it should fall to you to form a Cabinet and group of advisors, please give us some names of the people you would want to consult or consider asking to join you in the following areas: national security, economics, health care reform, environment, and housing and urban challenges.
After posting it, I decided to just for kicks check out the Constitution ..... and realized that it could happen even sooner.
Amendment XX, subd 3
"If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President. . . ."
So -- if something were to happen to John McCain on Nov. 5th, just a day after they were elected, our next president would be Sarah Palin. And isn't THAT enough to raise anxiety level!!

Here's my addition
When Barack Obama was 24 years old he became a community organizer for local churches, helping with job training and education preparedness.
What were you doing when you were 24?

I agree wholeheartedly that she needs to answer some tough questions. However, most of the questions posed here are what consevatives expect the the "liberal media" to ask. This will play right into their hands and garner more sympathy for Palin.
Hannity and and others are already pushing the meme that the press has been tougher on Palin in one week than it has been on Obama in 18 months.

The clever Press as Villain narrative does provide a challenge, agreed. But is not a new one. I remember Nixon's team using exactly that defense during the Watergate period. Thank goodness their vilification of the media did not deter Woodward and Bernstein.
So like I tell kids when I coach soccer, we have to "play through."

What is your salary as governor of Alaska and what types of additional benefits do you receive (housing, health insurance, life insurance, etc...)? Do you think basic benefits such as paid sick leave and health insurance should be available to all working mothers?

As Governor, you supported a windfall profits tax on oil companies. Have you abandoned that position or are you trying to persuade Senator to do the same thing on a national level?

After the ABC "Great Debate", I don't trust them. They could be preparing a cheat sheet for her.
Yeah, I'm paranoid...

I wonder if the Republican campaign, in addition to keeping Palin under wraps, is trying to create "demand" by a forced "scarcity" of access.
What would they do if the media actually said, "OK, we don't care about talking to Palin after all." Especially after pestering the campaign to produce her.
I want to see her interviewed as well, but I'm often irritated by the apparent Republican manipulation of the media.

Hah!! That would be delicious ... for a moment at least. But the Reps would just keep her safely under wraps (not revealing who she really is and how little she really knows) and be able to blame the press when voters get irritated.
But it really is a delicious thought. "Sorry, we've already booked the head of the National Firefighters association for Meet the Press that day. She'll have to wait her turn -- IF she's still news by the time we have an opening."

I think Sarah should do townhalls.
I don't think she has a mature political position on national issues - I think her "Talking Points" will be glaring in their simplicity.
I think she should start with a townhall in Wasilla, Alaska - I know I have a few key questions to ask her.
