I'm at work and missed it.
But my oh my, you've got a way with words.
Good to see you when the sun's still out here.
;)
Yep. It was staged and glossy and super-manipulative, but still... Very powerful.
And I love that song, "Love Train"!
Song selection kinda cheesy, but in the moment it worked.
"People all over the world, Join In ..."
I was watching a recording...just saw it! Yeah!
See ya later!
As I said in conversation with a local political reporter on the night of Obama's St. Paul appearance, we (many of us, those graying folks with still-active memories, anyway) have come in our lifetimes from the days when a black guy trying to cast a vote in some parts of the US was taking his life in his hands, to a day when we've got a black guy - with a funny name, as he so memorably said in Boston four years ago - with a somewhat better-than-even chance of being President of the United States soon.
He agreed, and we were, both of us, quite pleased to see this. And now it's official. And the rivalry that was a genuine threat to the party a few short months ago has turned into a ringing endorsement.
Let's not forget that there's a lot of work that needs doing between now and Election Day, and that there's even more that will need doing come January. And while we remember that we're only on the way, not at the goal, let's also celebrate this day. We saw and heard history being made, live from Denver. I will remember this. You will too, most of you.
America may well be on the path to some much-needed healing.
I will remember. No matter what happens from here on out, this is a momentous day. I sincerely hope the wounds, for the most part, are at least beginning to heal. If we just take a moment and breathe in the history made tonight - perhaps we can all feel stronger to face the road ahead. All the way to the White House.
I was putting in a new SATA drive while Lehrer and Shields were interviewing this guy. He sounded more and more like an old Democratic war horse. Then I closed up the box, looked closely and saw that it was Mondale.
Ran into him once on the street in DT Minneapolis, in '04. I was leaving an event for the Kerry campaign, and I stopped and asked him if I could get a photo. (He agreed to a pic.) I commented that "...it's not every day we see Vice Presidents around downtown!" He just chuckled and said "Oh, we're everywhere..."
Met him a time or two elsewhere too - decent guy.

I've missed a lot of the convention. *sigh*
They seem to find their way to YouTube. I've been emailing links to all my friends without TV.
I'm so brain dead right now, that I did not even think of utube. Thanks, though. :)
Hi, Eva, great to see you.
Hi, guys...hope you're going to be around for awhile...I've got a few things to finish up then I'll be back!
Well, today was a great day! On a number of different fronts...
I'm sure glad to see you all. Eva, nice to meet you. I don't think I've seen you around, how are you?
Has anyone seen Matt? We need to get him an avatar...I missed his post yesterday because his gray head blended in w/ all the others. I'm used to looking for you guys by your faces!
Sox, get over and give me smooch!
Oh, look! I brought cookies! Not homemade, just ones from Trader Joe's that you throw into the oven from the freezer...Oatmeal cranberry. I love to torture myself when I'm dieting! Dig in, I can't take them home with me or I'll be wearing them on my butt!
