Why Play the "Race Card" Card Now?

Liberals took the bait...again...

McCain's ad comparing Obama to two young hypersexualized and frivolous blonde girls (both who happen to be Republicans fyi) and attached to that is the ridiculously false claim about Obama taxing your electricity...yet the campaign, like the media, only referred to the Paris/Britney aspect of the ad.

Wonder why McCain & Friends play the "Race Card" Card now, considering Obama has for months tried to stoke a little vigilance as to any race baiting that may be in the works (or already is...for that matter)?

In the latest Obama-bashing meme that the media is running with this week especially... "arrogance", "presumptuousness", even "uppity" has been brought up (sadly, by the  news networks' token black journalists/pundits of course, only adding to the legitimacy of using the word "uppity" against Obama)  it's the perfect time for McCain to stoke race, such that any criticism of Obama's perceived arrogance or presumptuousness is coupled with negative thoughts about his race, and also the image of Obama and two hypersexualized blonde bimbos is disconcerting to a particular, yet large demographic of older white voters, and yes, even liberals, who have qualms about miscegenation (my neighbor's white grandmother in MA supported Malcolm X and MLK yet was personally disgusted with the notion of miscegenation). Whether the ad was made with the racial intent, the McCain campaign certainly knew that would be the accusation among liberals...and they took it hook, line, and sinker.

So now add the words to your new vocabulary: Swiftboat  and Willie Horton are grossly false and misleading personal and political attacks,  3AM phone call is a terror attack, and Presumptuous, Arrogant is now Uppity N*gro, and mentioning your non-white heritage is playing the race card.

I appreciate your perspective, but I see it differently. McCain is even more dependent on his image of representing a different kind of politics than is Obama. The Democrats have a built in advantage in this election if you believe the majority of Americans want change. McCain understands this, which is why even if the delivery was terrible his line "That's not change we can believe in" is a good one. Unfortunately for McCain he's got to take risks and resort to old politics to try and break through Obama's message. Obama has to call him on it, so the people can see McCain for what he is. Sure, he's gonna get some backlash but it would be worse if he allowed McCain to get away with it. At least that's how I see it.

I'd love to argue with you about any number of points, but your post is too muddled.

To wit: What possesses you to spell negro without an "e"?

readytoblowagasket,

Why did you fail to capitalize it? Without the "N", the word "negro" is considered perjorative. Was that your intent?

dude, im half black.

it was a small typo during a short rant.

thanks for catching it, but honestly, "perjorative"? The post was obviously not perjorative about Obama, thus how could such a small typo have evoked that?

McCain's ad is objectionable. Nonetheless making fun of Obama's celebrity status was indeed called for.

As to the 'injection of race' into this campaign Obama falsely accused the Clintons of racism and McCain wasn't about to let it happen to him.

Also an underlying -- pardon me, overt -- theme of Obama's campaign has been that if you don't vote for me you are a fearful racist.

Obama has been trying to set it up that he is the only person allowed to mention anything concerning race. To date he has gotten away with it.

yes, that's completely rational and will get him the blue collar, latino, and jewish vote (oh by the way, a NJ congressman had an explicit memo which he accidentally blurted out that from top level campaign advisers, the groundgame there was encouraged to make worse an already existing rift between blacks, latinos, and jews.)

If you're "half black" and didn't bother to notice, you're really ignorant about your history and heritage. What about "jewish" or "latino"? For a so-called biracial "brotha" or "sista", you've got some SERIOUS cultural deficiencies if you're still calling people "dude"...especially if they're women. You don't hang with black folks much, do you?
