Why Obama Could be in Trouble
This essay by Robert Parry is depressingly close to the mark --

Truly, the media is pathetic.

Two MUST-READ articles spelling out the reasons why Obama can't drop McCain in the polls:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/drew-westen/why-voters-say-they-dont_b_117238.html
Same reasons Kerry (war hero) and Gore (Nobel Laureate) BOTH LOST TO A CHIMPANZEE.
Obama's campaign needs to WAKE UP and stop playing Little League ball!!!
Josh: can you make sure these articles get forwarded to the campaign? PLEASE!!?!?

Obama should be have a larger lead in the polls
Obama is behind where ---- was at this point in the campaign
Bayh will be announced Wed.
Obama has a problem with Jews
Obamam has a problem with working class voters
Obama has a problem with Hispanic voters
Obam has a problem with women
Oabama is too cold
Obama is not black enough
Obama is too black
Obama is elitist
etc, etc, etc
Why anyone takes this kind of nonsense seriously is beyond me. And why does every bit of the echo chamber media CW of the day have to make it into blog post here?

Your bullet list does not reflect what Parry is saying in his essay.

You are, of course, right; but that's not the point.
The point is that everyone has a theory and 99% of them are pure BS. And there is so much publishing and broadcasting space to fill up these days just about anyone can have their theory published. Huffington Post, after all, publishes Will Bower.

Well you might want to explain why Parry's various points are "BS"... with specifics.

Because we are all mildly insane and have an intense need to read every single word out there either attacking or supporting our guy...I don't have time to root all this out for myself and appreciate very much that we're all trying to keep each other informed...
I go back and forth 10 times a day trying to convince myself to back off, relax, do what I can to help then let it go...But the obsessive part of my brain won't let me. I have to read it all, positive and negative, digest it, fret over it and generally make everyone around me as crazy as I am...It's not pretty, but there you have it...
A bottle of wine over at Melissa's later, anyone?

One of problems is simply that most Americans will never ever read these articles. On the plus side most Americans will not read articles that spead the repub BS.
Being in Indiana I can say it will be the local media covering the conventions, debates, local visits, and the last two weeks of the campaign that decide this election.

I rec'd this because I think it's important...I'm just not sure what to do w/ the information. It is my opinion that there are a whole lot of people out there that vote based on very little information. What info isn't coming from the MSM is coming from bogus e-mails and the rumors Uncle Charlie told them 'cuz he's rill smart 'bout stuff like that there...
Sometimes I wonder why we don't just change the constitution and let the media decide who is going to govern us...seems like they get to anyway, why not make it official?
Any ideas on how to make some noise?

The 2006 mid-term election was a watershed moment. The negative attack ads that have become a republican staple surprisingly didn't work. And the media's continuous debate in questioning whether Democrats could keep America safe and the non-stop videos of San Francisco's Nancy Pelosi, gay couples kissing, and Karl Rove predicting a Republican victory wasn't enough. In the end the country voted overwhelming for Democrats, ensuring a Democratic majority.
Misinformation, whether coming from the media or a political campaign, relies heavily on an uninformed and uninspired public.
Despite a long presidential campaign and our national reputation of having a short attention span, the public remains energized and is tuned-in. We have seen record turnouts in the Democratic primaries in state after state, with multitudes of new voters registering for the first time, and as democrats. And we have witnessed record numbers in small donations to the Obama campaign and growing support for local candidates.
The Republican negative ads and the media narrative may have been effective once upon a time. But not this year. Not this time.

I think that the GOP/McCain attacks have become so heavy-handed that voters can too easily smell the strong whiff of B.S. that permeates them. McCain may be on the verge of having voters question any negative message he sends out, and voters may actually become immunized.

Its the 'low-information' voters that are the problem. Instead of doing their research, they rely on soundbites and headlines. Unfortunately, their vote carries the same weight as an informed and educated voter. The Repugnicans are used to the Politics of Fear and Ignorance so that is how they appeal to and win over these voters.
