U.S. agrees to withdraw troops by 2011
According to the Iraqi Prime Minister.
The article is over at Reuters, and it's small, but the point is clear, whether Condi wants to admit it or not. There are very clear negotiations taking place for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq.
I can't help but think: how will McCain get around this one?
I also wonder: will the MSM finally hold McCain accountable for refusing to commit to a withdrawal of US troops, despite the fact that Iraq wants our troops out, and now the U.S. is firmly negotiating (if not agreeing) to have troops out by 2011?

This might be Bush's final "fuck you" to McCain.
Bush doesn't care about the next administration. He certainly doesn't care if or when troops come home. There's no reason to think that bringing the troops home is a better idea now than it was six months or a year ago.
Bush DOES care about his legacy. A legacy than was nearly usurped eight years ago by a witty, media-loved McCain. A legacy that may further be eroded should McCain come out in force against Bush's policies (campaign promises aside). A legacy that may still go down in history more like LBJ's than like Lincoln's.
Agreeing to a timetable will allow him to both stick it to an old rival and to secure a place is history, if not as a competent military executive, then at least not as a total failure.
