The Commander-in-Chief Threshold
This is my suggestion for the next line of attack. It would certainly be best coming from Hillary, but it probably works otherwise, too:
"After observing Sen. Obama throughout this past year, I can now unequivocally say that I have come to see him as an extraordinarily capable leader. He has the intellect, strategic ability and temperament to successfully lead our military as well as the civilian government.
John McCain has also apparently stepped over the Commander-in-Chief threshold. The problem is that John McCain was going the wrong way. Years ago, John McCain seemed like a person who could have succeeded in the highest office. The past eight years, however, John McCain has repeatedly failed American troops and American families, all the while growing more agitated and quicker to take stands without considering the consequences. The John McCain of today is no longer able to serve Americans as we need.
Years ago, John McCain seemed to be a friend of the military. The past eight years, however, John McCain has consistently voted against veterans and active-duty troops, and against aiding soldiers' families. All veterans' groups give John McCain poor or failing grades, whereas Sen. Barack Obama has exemplary grades from the same groups. Currently serving soldiers know this, and they have supported Barack Obama's campaign 6-to-1. Our troops, veterans and their families see through the John McCain talk, and see his actual horrible record of neglecting the soldiers.
Years ago, John McCain seemed to be in favour of women's right of self-determination. The past eight years, however, he has repeatedly tried to gain more control over women and now he says he would take the unconstitutional step of getting Roe vs. Wade repealed except when in front of independent voters, when the double-talk express goes in overdrive to distract from his record.
[Add more similar examples.]"
Obviously fact-check claims etc. and develop some soundbites for ads but I think this would work.
Thoughts?

Make that "they see straight through the John McCain-talk" for added snark value.

Rec'd for very strong content. I want stronger punches to his vulnerable guts.

Excellent! And an equally strong, focused attack on his proposal for (and lack of concern about) health care. I finally heard a calm, thorough assessment of his proposal (from Jonathan Oberlander? who has an article in NE Journal of Medicine) and almost threw up!!!!! It is so very clear that he either doesn't 'get it' or gets it and doesn't give a damn about anyone but the wealthy. It's glaring - in the same way that roo_P explains that he doesn't care about the soldiers and their families.

That's an outstanding punch-line, roo! Humorous and lethal.

No, but it would neutralise her earlier comment which, despite any of our personal feelings, is still a valuable asset for the Republicans (even if it is not in any way a game changer as some seem to believe.)
Aside from pointing out what an utter failure McCain is as a human, let alone would be as a leader of any kind.
Oh, and making fun of the Republicans' idiotic "strategy."

So she needs to vet the next President so as to neutralize her words that he's not ready to be vetted?

Not sure why you want to be argumentative about it, but she started the "vetting" (your term.)
Unless I misunderstood and you just meant that her assessment was wrong to begin with and people should not have listened to her?

She was running against him, her job was to tear him down. Now he won. His job is to not give a shit about what opponents said.

Very good. I think it is important to give specifics about the bills McCain either didn't show up for, spoke against, and voted against that were for veterans and serving military. He is the master of generalities and never gets challenged.
He is always talking about how he supports the troops, but there is a plethora of proof that he doesn't. I'm not talking about bill numbes and names, but just a brief descriptive of what he has NOT supported.
