So What Did You Pick?

Hi there, come on in.  I'm just going to step outside and wait for Sox, go on in and grab a seat.  Nice out isn't it?  I'm almost afraid to say that Fall might be in the air.  Or is it Autumn?  Think I like Fall, reminds me of falling temperatures and tempers, leaves and leaving the heat behind.  Slight breeze feels so good on the skin.  Goosebumps.  Hi, honey ... get down, please.  Since she's gotten older she doesn't really jump - it's more like she stands up and falls towards you knowing you'll play catch.  Okay, everybody in the house.

I'm starving!  Has anyone checked the frig lately?  I've been running around a bit more than usual and I can't remember if there's anything edible in there.  Oh, that is very funny.  Not.  Fine, I'll put on the gloves and goggles and check for myself.

How about a movie?  I'm all keyed up tonight for some odd reason.  In the mood for a glass of Zin and a movie to wind down the clock.  Gosh, I'm sorry!  Would you care for something?  I must really be out of sorts.  No problem, I'll be right back.  What?  I don't really care, just pick something you like and I know I will.  Especially with company like yours.  And popcorn.  POPCORN!!  And it's not in the frig!

So what did you pick?

Popcorn sounds wonderful!

Hey, before things get crazy around here, I have a gift for you all if I can get past my technology issues...

It's been around for awhile, so you may have seen it, but even after seeing it about 50 times, it still feeds my soul and I wanted to share it with you guys. There is a reference or 2 to God, and since I don't know what your beliefs are, feel free to substitute whoever your "higher Being" is or ignore the words altogether and just enjoy the music and the photography...

Hi there.
I'm going to do the Philadelphia Story, because .. Well, just because.

Unless you don't like black and white. In that case, a badly overlooked movie called Wind, about a fictional America's Cup campaign. Lots of good sailboat shots. Jennifer Grey with her old nose.

Unless you're not in the mood for scenery. How about The Thomas Crown Affair. The one with Brosnan and Russo -- grown ups having fun, acting like grown ups. And the best sex scenes of the last 20 years or so.

Of course, if you're feeling for something even lighter, I'm a fan of Notting Hill.

What would you prefer?

My all-time favorite is "Sliding Doors" w/ Gweneth Paltrow...It's a bit of a chick flick, but has just enough meat that the guys like it, too...another you can watch over and over...

I don't know that one too well. Saw it once -- it's about different realities, right? Different paths leading to different results. Certainly a favorite concept to me.
How are you tonight?

Close...more like your destiny is your destiny, regardless of how you get there...

Anyway, I'm doin' good...How about you? Feeling better tonight?

I'm actually kind of sad. I used to really love this site. Not so much anymore, and I'm finding that it's a tough hole to fill.

Rest of the world feels okay, though. Thanks for asking.

Did you check out the clip I left? I thought it was something you might appreciate.

You meant the one up top -- I liked it quite a bit. Thanks for it. That's neat

On last night's thread? i didn't see it.

No, 1st post tonight...up-thread.

Have you been coming to this site long? I've only been here for a month or so. It gets a little intense at times. My first day was ROUGH. Felt a little like a gangster having to "make my bones."

Sounds like it may have gone through some changes...

Coming over here to Melissa's is my favorite part. I feel really at home here. Find myself wondering during the day how everyone is doing...Is that just a little weird?

I've been here since Josh started it during the 2000 recount, I think. I think it's been that long. Back before there were reader blogs and the cafe and all that jazz, when it was mostly analysis and some news. The Cafe was a good addition, but it permeates everywhere. Everything becomes slanted and hostile -- you start to come in with a chip on your shoulder. Kind of sucks. And I'm on the wrong side of the pervasive argument here, so I just get a little angry at the whole place. Which stinks, because it used to be cool escape.

Do you mind my asking what you perceive the pervasive argument being? I'm still having a hard time figuring it out.

If I tell you what I think, it will just bring politics into Melssia's house, and that's not what she wants and I don't want to spoil the mood. You can take a look at my stuff today, and it will give you an idea. I got too invested -- need to remember perspective a lot better than I do.

Will do, Matt, thanks.

Hi guys, I finally got in. Between my connection and TPM I've been sidelined. But the two of you talking to each other is exactly what should take place in my living room, so I don't really mind, afterall. Just wanted to say that I love you both, and it's great to see you.

Still, thank you for the link. I will watch when comfortable and happy to be enriched.

Matt, I love your choice. I always do, whenever you wish to offer one.

Was wondering where you took off to! Missed you, but it was nice to visit w/ Matt while you were gone.

How are you tonight? Sorry about your connection problems. And thanks for having me in -- I'm getting the feeling that I'm a conversation stopper here -- whenever I get in early, the place tends to stay a bit deserted.

The Red Violin.

Screaming baby. So much for the mood. Y'all have a nice night.

Let's watch the movie...ONCE..have you seen it? It's one to watch and unwind; especially with a glass or two of wine!

Nite and pleasant dreams!

Well, Melissa, I think I'm the last one here, and I'm draggin' so I'm gonna lock up and head home...Sox is asleep on the couch (I know she's not supposed to be up there, but I'm thinkin' she'll just get back up after I leave, so I don't want to disturb her...oh how cute, she's having little puppy dreams...there, there girl, you're safe...the bad kitty won't get you...) Anyway, hope you get you connection problems taken care of.

Hey Melissa --
Sorry I missed you, and a quiet party tonight. Maybe for the best, though, since I would have brought "Good Night and Good Luck" -- as good as it is, it's still politics and we really do need a rest from it, occasionally. That is just one reason why your nightly drop-by has become so important to so many of us.
Yikes, look what time it is -- good night and good luck!

Wendy..... hello!

Good Night and Good Luck.

Oh. My. Goddess.

That is one of my all-time favorite films.

Merci beaucoup, for entering this into our collective.

Sox might not be down with it, but the rest of us certainly are. Edward R. Murrow.....

do you think Keith Olberman is his present day incarnation??

So tired. Outta here.

Thanks, as always, Melissa.
