I used to have a measure of respect for McCain, due to service and his ability to work across the aisle.

But he has done nothing lately but show that he is now firmly in the pocket of the far right and their selfish interests.

He has sold out and is a liar, no doubt.

I just checked your profile and now I can see why I agree w/ everything you've posted. I'm a registered Republican, but consider myself to be reformed, as well. Not sure yet if I'll remain a Republican after this race and try to change our party, or switch affiliations.

But, at any rate, there are a lot of reasonable voices around here, but it's nice to have another!

Don't switch. We need all the help we can get to start pushing for progressive republicans at the local level who are truly conservative and not neoconservative.

We can't cede the field to the democrats though we can join them in the fight. America needs liberal and conservative voices to steer a steady course.

Oh yeah? Well for five years, John McCain didn't have the option of lying whenever he felt like it . . . okay, wait, that doesn't work. Ummmm, how about "oh yeah?, well John McCain was shot down, captured by the savage North Vietnamese and tortured for his country, so he's entitled to lie whenever its expedient . . . " Okay, right, this one's a little harder than usual to fit in the frame. Go have some ribs and gimme and the staff a minute here . . .
