Overseas Troops Spend 6 to 1 on Obama over McCain

The non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics reports that troops stationed overseas donate by a ratio of 6:1 to Obama over McCain, both in terms of individuals contributing and total contributed.

Even troops stationed here at home gave more to Obama than to McCain. All of which is a turnabout from 2004 and more good news for Obama.

Who ready to be CinC, John?

This is obviously a sign that some of the troops have a plan for failure in Iraq. Afterall, what do they know about what goes on over there? Probably just a few deadenders that aren't receiving the Rush Limbaugh show AFR pipes in everyday!

I want this piped up. It needs repetition, and the media needs to catch on to it.

Great idea, but it will take the blogs to do it, don't expect anything from the MSM about this, or McCain's Sturgis crude, because the media knows it will turn off (or severely diminish) the Republican party advertising dollars.

Once the public actually knows our troops support Obama by a huge margin, and that McCain is willing to get down and dirty with the bikers, they won't be sending him those contributions.

So don't EVER expect the MSM to report either fact, they know bettter than McCain and his handlers just what the public needs to see.

A former West Point professor, Jason Dempsey, noted that the small set of contributions from deployed troops at this point in 2008 -- just 323 donations -- should not be extrapolated to form conclusions about military personnel overall.

The part the diarist won't mention.

Maybe you should read the report. The number you call unmentionable is only troops deployed overseas. In fact, the report records more than 2,000 donations from domestically stationed troops, a far higher sampling than most polls such as the Gallup or Rasmussen surveys.

Is it not true that this pole was slightly skewed? I remember hearing that many of the troops were asked their support preference and it was overwhelmingly McCain, however, when reported, the media only reported those that supported Obama.
Perhaps we should know how this study was conducted and support it with facts.
Just one man's opinion.

The research methodology is explained at the link in my post. And your concerns have the earmarks of Swift-Boating. The Center for Responsive Politics is non-partisan.

I know plenty of "troops" who are certainly not hoping for a GOP victory in November, whether or not they are democrats.
