Obama's Decision
Obama reportedly called VP candidates on his short list to inform them that they indeed had not been selected. That Obama had decided not to select any of the short list, and in fact had decided not to choose a Vice-President at all, took many by surprise, not least some thousands of Washington pundits, who lined the entrance of The Palm all the way up to Dupont Circle, some crying, some aghast and outraged, some simply numb with shock. Presumably the SMS containing blank text hinted of the surprise to come, but most were caught dumbstruck anyway. Still, the move was in keeping with Obama's promise for true change, and with some obvious self-delight Mark Penn, Hillary Clinton's pollster and campaign guru, noted that he had predicted this weeks ago. "Not even God polled well with Obama", he noted, while spilling the remains of a hamburger on his trademark white shirt. Speculation is still up in the air as to what use Obama will put the Naval Observatory, traditional home for the VP. Some speculate it will become a rehabilitation center, others a museum, and some guess that it will just be left empty as a reminder. Of something.

As long as Dick-head Cheney moves out, I don't really care.
Much.

I like "spilling the remains of a hamburger." It's perfect Penn. I picture ketchupy, greasy blobs.
Ketchupy, greasy blobs might aptly describe the creative writing exercises too.

Note I restrained myself from writing about the ketchup, hoping the hamburger imagery would evolve in your head on its own. As for greasy blobs, I'm already tired of talking about potential candidates.

I see the burger bits tumbling down the front of his shirt over and over again, leaving tracks. Must be from watching gymnasts fall off the balance beam over and over again, leaving white powder on the mat.
I'm sick of testing the vice presidential hopefuls like a sore tooth. Enough already!

The suspense is killing me, but isn't it great that Drudge doesn't have it yet?
I picture him freaking out in the dark somewhere from the stress.

I just wrote to the Obama camp because I am concerned that they have miscaculated things. If they pick someone that it is going to take time to adjust to... it could really lower enthusiasm for/at the convention. I know that Bayh would be such a choice for me. Having watched the senate for years he is not a man I feel that great about and I think rather than going down smooth some choices are going to take adjusting to. After all the hype... Bayh is a real let down.

As if 10:00 PM this evening, it is being reported by major wire services that Obama told Bayh that he is out. So not to worry.
Obama has been extremely shrewd in the way that he has handled this. Besides the obvious benefits of the mailing list and the attention that he has received, secrets carry with them a certain aura and excitement. This will be transferred to the VP candidate. It also has shown how disciplined Obama and his people can be.
He is going to win this election.

I have been thinking about this for a while now, and like previously(before I went MIA) I spoke alot about Obama and understanding his overall STRATEGY.
And to understand what he is doing, or what he doesnt do, is a part of his or his teams STRATEGY.
Going to Indiana this weekend is in no way incentive it will definitely be Bayh. He just wants his first stop to be in this particular state.
The real question I think is: Why Indiana? Well I think, from a strategical point of view, looking at LONG TERM, meaning "he wins in 08, and then wants to win in '12" you want the closest states to Chicago to already be PRO- Obama meaning whoever goes against you has NO CHANCE of succeeding. And why not Indiana? They already share many things with Chicago, mainly the NW section of Indiana.
I think this is long term strategy at its best, and I think in the future you will see it move from Indiana to Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota and Iowa. The surrounding states of Illinois, and then the southern circumference(one big circle).
What better way to systematically take over and "change" the state of mind of the United States of America. Start with our biggest problem, The Mid West.
I know it is alot to swallow for some of you, but I have called some other long shot type scenarios through the Primary that have proven right. If I was Obama, Plouffe, or Axelrod, I would start at Indiana.
