McCain Campaign's Obama Dollar Bill Spoof
The McCain campaign has been indignantly accusatory over the following words by Obama:
They're going to try to say that I'm a risky guy, they're going to try to say, 'Well, you know, he's got a funny name and he doesn't look like all the presidents on the dollar bills and the five dollar bills and, and they're going to send out nasty emails.
Barack Obama was merely describing behavior in which the McCain campaign has already been engaging.

Michael Shaw analyses this ad at the HuffPo in the context of Obama's statement and the McCain campaign playing the "race card" card.

Yes, but how dare he describe it?! Playing the race card just by describing it!/
Good catch, Christopher.

It's an excellent catch, but it reveals once again the problem we have -- which is that our antennae are a lot more sensitive than most Americans'.
I think that ad is one of the most transparently racist things I've ever seen a campaign put out -- I'd rank it with Willie Horton.
But most Americans aren't going to see it that way. They have what Josh called a "Newtonian" mindset (a slur on Newton, by the way, but never mind). "If it's making fun of his ambition, then it can't also be about race . . ."
When Barack has slipped so far, it's often by trying to communicate some insight about voters' own psychology. The line about "bitter" voters was a good example, and I'm afraid the dollar bill line is another. People think they understand how their own minds work. They're often wrong, but it's a hell of a task to convince them they're wrong.

And for anybody who still believes the media is an impartial arbiter or biased toward liberals here's ABC imitating the McCain ad.

Had not seen that video. Thanks! It is incredible that John McAss Hole is getting away with these ads. Daily now I am seeing shameless mocking ads from their campaign. It is disgusting. I have a suspicion that this will backfire big onto McCain. If not, this country deserves what it gets and the racists are in control. I cannot believe that these ads are going to sway any rational mind to vote for McCain.

Dude, the country has deserved what it got for quite a while -- because the racists are in control, and they've successfully bamboozled most of the low-information white folk.
Nothing new there.
It's just that we're going to win this time around, because we're going to work harder and donate more money.

Is it just me, or does Charlie Crist look like the president on the three-dollar bill?
