Leading Indicators - Angelina Jolie
I was scanning my usual important morning news sources on the internet, and I came across a disturbing news item - Angelina Jolie is still undecided. I went like WTF? Angie hasn't made up her mind? And here people have been giving me shit for months because I haven't joined the parade, while one of our leading cultural icons is cutting her path through the swamps of indecision? If nothing else, we should be joined in solidarity with her fight, her movement - with all she's given us, for far longer than a single campaign season, it can only be the right thing to do. And if she hadn't adopted a child from Africa, does anyone here honestly believe Obama would be in this race at this point? Or that Madonna would have adopted one on her own? Laughable.
So here's what I want you to do - find out who else out there is lost in the fog, needs help coming ashore. What's Brad think? Jessica Simpson (Obama could use her pro-meat contingent)? Kiefer Sutherland (he gave us a black president *AND* Gitmo - for a Canuck he's center court on this year's campaign)? Where do we stand? Who are the undecideds, what are the compelling issues? Come on, people, it's not just about Us anymore.

I think the confusion is all down to their Daddies. In fact, a celebrity death match between Kiefer's (Donald, pro-Obama) and Angelina's (Voight, pro-McCain) might do well on pay-per-view. I know I'd pay top dollar to see Voight beaten to death - down home style - by Donald "The Fighting Fisherman" Sutherland.
Then again, I'd pay more to.... Oh never mind. It was just gonna be another sleazy Angelina comment. She hates it when I do that.

Actually she told me it turned her on, but I'll spare you the details.
Anyway, your suggestion is oh so retro 60's, isn't it? Midnight Cowboy vs. Oddball? Deliverance vs. Klute? Well, why not - we keep getting 60's allusions whether we like them or not, so a mud wrestling match between movie star fathers with famous kids, with a cross-border skirmish to throw in as subtext. Could be a hit series. Especially with a tag-team Angie/Kiefer bit to spice things up. (She seduces, he tortures - who'll get the best of whom?)

Afraid you may have it reversed, Desidero. It's Keifer who seduces with apparent mild-mannered kindness, while it is Angelina who tortures you all.

If I'd ever seen an Angelina Jolie movie I might be tortured. To date I live in blissful ignorance. I like Nicole Kidman for say Dogville (not the abysmal Eyes Wide Shut). Sigourney Weaver for Death and the Mermaid. Emily Watson. Many others of course.

And I say too bad for you, as she created an absolutely unforgettable character in "Girl Interrupted," a burn into your brain character.

Cool, I'll try to find it on video.

I never really liked Angelina Jolie much to begin with, so I could really care less about her opinions or thoughts on the election. She has yet to really impress me in any film. I mean, she's been alright here and there. A Mighty Heart comes to mind. But nothing truly extraordinary or spectacular. She can continue to be undecided for all I care. Heh.

Given the way Angelina feels about Daddy, I'd say Voight's pro-Obama ad pretty much makes her vote for Obama a foregone conclusion.

Did you mean to say pro-McCain ad or anti-Obama ad?
,,,Jon Voight accused Barack Obama of "sowing socialist seeds in young people" for an op-ed published in the Washington Times on Monday...
Yes, I admit it, I read the Angelina Jolie profile in the Vanity Fair of a month or two ago; if I recall correctly she and Dad are still not speaking, well, sort of....if they have to...it's too painful... :-)

Yeah, anti. It was late. It was Friday. I was still working. Need I say more?
And man oh man, when you see her talk about him live, its clear that she really, really, really doesn't like him. Only second-gen celebrity dad-hate I've ever seen that's worse is the way John Phillip's kids talk about him.

That's it, Angie being "undecided" means I now have permission to be an "undecided" too.
I would never have arrived at this place of enlightenment without you, Desi. The smiling orange mushroom cloud bites _again_!

Think of it as a fiery cleansing agent, the Wrath of Aguirre.
