John McCain's apprentice

avatar

At first glance, Sarah Palin seems to be a fine American.  She has been governor for less than two years.  She was a mayor for two years prior to that.  She's served on the city council.  Those are the right titles on her resume.

However, what voters really have to ask is does she have the experience and knowledge to be vice president and president given McCain's age.  Based on published reports, she doesn't know what the VP does, wondering if it would keep her busy like being governor.  She's impressed with the title of governor and thinks being VP is a step down in title on her resume. Obviously the magnitude of the office is lost on her. Can you imagine her as president of the US Senate, one of the many roles of the VP?

As an observer of the republican party, I have noticed that every criticism leveled at Obama also applies to almost everything John McCain does.  I remember Mitt Romney telling CNN that the presidency isn't an internship. There's no on the job training.

Low and behold you have Charlie Black saying that Palin will sit at the knees of the foreign policy master and learn the ropes during his first term.   Side note: Perhaps Black should rephrase that. The concept and visual of a young, good looking woman (28 years younger than McCain) sitting at John McCain's knees isn't something the republicans want to emphasize given McCain's history with women.  What's more, how can you nominate someone who is being investigated by a bipartisan panel.

Everyone is thinking McCain's pick is about Clinton's supporters.  Yes, the neocons will lover her. There will be some voters who will vote for McCain because Palin is a woman. Others will vote for McCain because they can't vote for a black man. But the real target is old white men and, especially, the bubbas and veterans. John McCain needs a large block of voters to support him.

Palin lacks the insight, knowledge and fortitude to really make a difference.

And in the words of Donald Trump, Sarah Palin, you're fired. You will not be the VP apprentice.

I wonder if people realize there are ALOT more sexist republicans than their are democrats. Just saying.
