I feel a draft
Scoff at your own risk. Here we go again with a new Cold War looming, and McDolt is now on record for the draft.

This is starting to rattle and hum around the tubes. One wonders whether the MSM will pick it up, however. Well yeah, maybe Olbermann. One can pray.
My hope is that if, goddess forbid, this megalomaniac prevails in November, so do enough Dems with sufficient testicular fortitude to grind his ass into the ground.

Obviosuly, there SHOULD be a draft. A democracy without a citizen's army very quickly ceases to be a democracy (has the demographics of the armed forces been more evenly spread, the Iraq misadventure might be over already); and the notion that young people perform national service of some sort has everything for it and nothing against it. None of the preceding justified going to war with Russia -- or anyone else, for that matter.

Of course there should be a draft. A democracy without a citizens army soon ceases to be a democracy. (Just think: had the armed forces been democraphically representative, protest against the appalling Iraq misadventure would have reached flashpoint far earlier.) And the notion of national service has nothing to be said against it. None of the preceding justifies a war against Russia -- or anyone else, for that matter.

Were you around for the Viet Nam war? You might have a different view of the draft if you had.
Of course, national service need not be military, and I'm not at all opposed to some requirement like that.
But these clowns have grown increasingly outrageous in what they choose to escalate into war, and the prospect of forcing young men and women to go off to their deaths or hideous injury is not my idea of acceptable national service. Feeding their wars with a ready supply of young people who don't want to fight is their idea of national service, not mine.

It would be wise to make an ad with that exchange.

This issue needs to get out right away. I'll be damn if this man could draft my daughter and send her into his wars for the sake of his strange egoic needs. He is just terrifying because he is so ignorant and because too many people are buying into his bs.
I hope that moveon.org or one of these organizations picks this up and gets it out to the public.

I think the fact that draft-age women would be included is the best weapon to be used against it -- not because they shouldn't share responsibility, but because the very prospect would curl the hair of the fundamentalist loonies.
I dare say most people still think of draftees as young men. Imagine the image of girls getting draft notices and having to come on down to the Selective Service Board to register. Lines of girls, some still in high school, some nearing college, some working, some already mothers, and photographers capturing this all on camera.
McCain must know he can't deliver on this, but, as with abortion, he panders to the empty-heads.
"I can't believe I'm losing to this guy."
