Hillary 2016!?!

If it hasn't been obvious all along, the nefarious manipulations of the calculating Clintons are becoming apparent. You may have thought Clinton was out to submarine Obama, clearing the path for her own election in 2008 and to hell with the fate of the nation forced to endure four more years of Republican misrule.  No, the Clintons are far more shrewd than you gave them credit for.  The plan, revealed tonight, is to ensure Barack Obama's election, not for the good of the country, mind you, although that is an added benefit.  No, Obama's successful election and reelection in 2012 will pave the way for Hillary's grand scheme - 2016.  Rather than inherit a country further broken by Republican depredations, she takes over a more prosperous and peaceful land.  Then, she will secure her legacy by building on Obama's record of achievement, thinking not of the betterment of our country, of course, but for her own aggrandizement.

Let's make Hillary's dream a reality and elect Barack Obama!

Chris - reset your snark detector. :-)

I'm with you AG. Hillary Clinton 2016!

She will be 69 in 2016. Now, for all those dreaming of such things, then you better not make fun of John McCain running because he is "too old" in 2008.

Show consistency.

I, for one, have always found putdowns related to McCain's age to reflect poorly only on those who make them. There are many reasons to oppose McCain. Age is not among them. Of course, the reaction to a 69 year old woman is bound to be different than a man of the same years. All the more reason to begin decrying the sexism in 2016 now.

Plus women live longer than men. Nyah nyah nyah.

Amen for that sister. Because if we lived longer we wouldn't know what to do with ourselves. :)

This made me think of the first and original Iron Lady. I looked it up; she was 71 upon election:

She came out of retirement to take office and then served 5 years.

Last I checked, Hillary wasn't running for anything in Israel.

You, sir, obviously haven't observed campaigning in certain neighborhoods in New York and Florida!

That's nearly a presidential term younger than McCain is now. And let's face it - McCain isn't aging well, that's the big reason it's a viable issue.

No problem there. I've said time and again I think the aegism meme will boomerang in McCain's favor. I'm partial to making him, as Chris Matthews suggested actually, into Mr. Wilson from Dennis the Menace. And when Hillary is 68 in 2016, hell I'll be eight years older too, hopefully a grandpa a couple of times over or so, crotchety as ever, and pulling for Hillary. Just another thing to look forward to.

There are many reasons to oppose McCain. Age is not among them.

I thoroughly agree and have said so on these boards in the past (for which I got accused of being a McCain troll).

However: you should have quit while you were ahead.

Stop bringing up the red herring of sexism. That's not why Hillary lost the nomination.

Clearthinker, I refer you to the sage advice of eastside93 above. Anyway, if we're serious about 2016, we need to start insulating ourselves now should things turn out other than expected. On a serious note, though, I am confident the electorate's judgment of a 69-year-old woman would be far harsher than of a man of the same years. Even though, as Dijamo points out, they live longer. Go figure.
