Calling Warren and McCain out on the Saddleback cheat

The following is from the transcript.  Up to that point McCain had not been asked anything about the Supreme Court.  Get back to that??

MCCAIN: A union — a union between man and woman, between one man and one woman. That’s my definition of marriage.

Could I — are we going to get back to the importance of Supreme Court Justices or should I mention –

WARREN: We will get to that.

MCCAIN:

WARREN: You’re jumping ahead (inaudible).

Up to that point Warren had not asked McCain that question

That is a very good catch, which I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere.
I think I can just make out the inaudible part:
"Don't screw this up for us now, you dumb asshat."
I could be wrong.

I heard it first time around. Why does it matter what the inaudible part contains? Warren hadn't touched on the supreme court judge issue prior to McLiar jumping the gun. He was prepped ahead of time, absolutely 100% NO DOUBT!

I wonder why McCain's campaign is going after Andrea Mitchell with a vengeance when she was just reporting a source inside Obama's campaign?
They got caught red-handed and they know it!

I'm so interested to see how Warren handles this on Larry King tonight. If he is true to his "Christian" values, he will come clean.

When I was in Catholic school, the nuns taught me that a lie is an intentional deception. Do we get to see Warren confess his sin on King or isn't it really that he's just another used car salesman

Warren asked McCheat how it was in the "cone of silence." Instead of saying, actually, I was stuck in traffic for x amount of time...he said "I was trying to listen through the walls."

--A deliberate deception -- a lie. I'm sure he didn't watch Obama; he had others do that, and tell him what to say.

It is his own fault that this issue is up in front; he lied to cover up that he was being coached.

What is this BS that Rick Warren keeps spouting about the Secret Service being with McCain the whole time? What difference does that make? Since when is it the job of the Secret Service to prevent a candidate from listening to the radio, getting text messages, or receiving information from his advisors?

Okay - what evangelical Christian debate do you foresee where the following questions are not asked:

1. When do you think life begins?
2. What kind of judges will you put on the supreme court?
3. Where do you stand on gay marriage?

Those are no brainers. That's all they think about and to go into the forum not having an answer for those questions is ludicrous. Of course McCain was prepared and waiting for those questions. I should hope Obama was too. If he had said I'll wait until you ask me that question, you'd have a point.

If he did hear the questions in advance, there's no excuse for botching the question of the 3 people he'd consult with in office and saying Meg Whitman. That was truly throw the first name out that came into his head. This whole thing about cheating just looks desparate and the sign of the cross thing as well. Are we really trying to Swiftboat McCain and think it will work? Let's be honest - Swiftboating worked against Kerry because he came back from Vietnam and was a fierce critic of the war alienating some of his fellow veterans. This crap is not going to fly against McCain and it's making liberals look both hypocritical and desparate.

Can we cut the bull already and get back to focusing on actual issues that McCain is more vulnerable on? This debate is helping him by letting him play for sympathy and slide on the more important issues of 5 million dollars being rich, etc.

First, Rick Warren has stated that he gave both candidates the first question -- the three people question. Second, he has said (in varying ways) that he either gave both candidates the second question -- moral failure of you and America. By varying accounts again, he either gave both candidates the "general topics" he was considering, and/or gave Obama a heads up on the "emergency help for foreign orphans" -- which Obama replied "Okay, I cheated and studied up on this one..." before answering the question.

So let's look a little closer at McCain answers to the "three people" question:

David Petraeus: a clear pander to the military hawks who support the war.

Meg Whitman: Californian, with roots/connections to Orange county (as far as I know), a bland, female entrepreneur and staunch Republican. Look at a picture of Whitman and you'll see a woman with a resemblance to Sandra Day O'Connor.

John Lewis: A black civil rights veteran, with whom McCain served (but did not work with in any partisan way), who might be palatable to the one or two black republicans in the Saddleback crowd. And note that Lewis disavowed any connection with McCain, and as we know publicly switched over to Obama during the primaries.

So we do know, Warren told the candidates to prepare for that question, and McCain calculated his answer for what he perceived would be political benefit. As to the veracity of McCain other answers, I have my doubts.

I still don't think McCain or his minions have had to lie on this subject. They just haven't been asked the right questions. If you listen to what they're saying "McCain didn't SEE Obama's performance" "McCain didn't hear the questions".
All of that may be literally true if he was simply being fed information & simply read the questions & was fed answers. Either way I still think Obama came off as much more real & trustworthy. There was no attempt to pander on Obama's part. He thought about the answers to the questions & answered from his heart. McCain simply said what he thought that group wanted to hear (which he does constantly on the campaign trail). Somebody needs to ask the questions in the right way to at least force camp McCain to lie (which you know they will).

When I see these public god-botherers in action, I am often reminded of William Burrough's observation: "The face of evil is the face of total need."are
