Best McCain Attack ad I've seen.
This is one of the most compelling commercials against McCain I've ever seen (saw it first on jedreport).
Here's the link
Not sure if it got ad time but it's very powerful. What do you think?

Yes, this ad has been embedded in blogs including Daily Dish and here, I think. It is terrific, I agree. Josh's idea was for the campaign to buy it from its makers. Good idea -- THREE WEEKS AGO.

Now that three weeks have passed, it's still the most compelling anti-McCain commercial. Everything else pales by comparison.
If you're going to decide to go negative in a campaign, you might as well go for a big hit. It's bigger than all the stuff they've already run.

I also first saw this a few weeks back via Josh and it is still killer. Its so good because it doesn't distort. The facts are so compelling and damning.

How is this 'negative' in any perjorative sense? This really bothers me. The only 'negative' thing about tying a candidate to his voting record is if his record is negative, you're not doing anything negative, just speaking the truth. Let's sort out the nebulous term 'negative' from smearing.
Smearing is lying or being disingenuous in order to damage your opponent. This is unethical, though not illegal. If you've told the truth about your opponents record, and it hurts his chances, then it just sucks to have his record, as in McCain's, and nothing more.
Nobody should have offered to 'not go negative'; any comparison between yourself and the opponent is going to be negative, one way or the other.

Maybe I am wrong, but, this add could not be bought and used by the Obama campaign.
It would be deemed illegal. There arent any actual "Facts" in the commercial. The same problem that the McCain camp is having with one of there latest videos here:
Like the crappy Obama-Ayers ad here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/22/obama-ayers-ad-group-will_n_120617.html
I also didnt see what was so GREAT about this add. Yeah there is probably truth to it, but it comes off as slander with the voice over going on and on about how McCain began endorsing Bush.
First thing that popped into my head is "This isnt Bush" at least not the extent that the ad is pushing.

There are the semantics to consider, yes. It's not a smear ad, it's a compelling commercial.
I could explain why I like this commercial so much, or the idea of it, (I'm sure you could get facts to back this up) but I can say that it evokes more of a visceral emotional gut hit. It's the hub of the wheel, as opposed to the spokes, (the other smaller issue spots)

Very true.
But they still could not purchase the ad.
If it was "slightly" different, with text and a slightly different script, I think it would be perfect.
The graph lines are what the set the tone though, definitely.
