Ben Stein Calls Obama "Angry Black Man" On Fox News

Ben Stein refers to Obama as an "Angry Black Man" while claiming he hates racism. The clip is here.

I think the point he was making, if you look at the context, is that the racists in the country will see him as an "Angry Black Man". In this context, the term is justified because he wants you to see what is in the racists' mind.

Although it can be dangerous to say things like this for just the reason your posts suggests: context is everything here.

It was interesting to see how he clobbers the GOP for being extravagant to the wealthy.

I've seen Stein in the NewYorker or NYTimes make references to opportunity and resources in regard to making it in life and he seems to be more reflective about just what allowed him and his father to be successful in life, so maybe he's getting sympathetic to those without cash in his old age.
As for the context being justified, I don't know. He first says "too many people won't vote for a black candidate". OK. Then adds "especially a black angry candidate". Obama has never particularly struck me as an angry person- that's Stein's opinion. He framed it as people not wanting to vote for a black person but where is he getting the description from? Yeah he's only painting a hypothetical situation but he's putting the code words out there for the public.

Actually, I think Obama is angry -- as in righteous rage. In fact, I think he is as angry about things as much as the rest of us. But you are correct: "angry black man" is loaded.

Yes, I see it when he tightens his jaw muscles...but it ain't nothing like the screamers between six and eight PM CST every night on the msm. They hardly have the courtesy to let each other speak.

I think you're right, he says, "If I may say so, there are just too many people who won't vote for a black candidate...especially a black angry candidate." It's his opinion. Obama doesn't EVEN come close to angry. I bet they were waiting for him to raise his voice (slightly even) like the "ENOUGH" comment. Hypocrits...all of them!! I listened to their angry white and black and green and polka-dotted asses screaming back and forth at each other trying to up the other all fucking day long during the convention!! JEESH! Hypocrits!
