The Speech

I just watched the speech for the second time. I watched it live during my lunch today. I watched it again with my daughter just now. I was spell bound even upon the second viewing. This speech laid out Sen Obama's vision for our place in the world and it is a grand vision. He is the kind of leader who can sell that grand vision to the world. He will get us more cooperation from the other nations in securing our future by making it clear that it is their future as well. If you doubt what he will do - - - watch him tell you.

When I heard the chant from the crowd, "Yes, we can!" I actually got a bit choked up.

I thought Obama's delivery and the speech itself was amazing. Even more so because I didn't 'catch' him glancing at notes one time!

His vision of unity for our world, not just our nation, is truly inspiring.

Although he referred to such a concept as 'improbable hope' - there is nonetheless, a 'valid hope' of individuals near and far coming together to begin building the foundation for this one (healthy, peaceful, prosperous and productive) world.

Because, all it needs to become reality, is you and me.

It was a great speech, but he did have a prompter there (those glass paddles on each side of the podium) to help.

Still, prompter or not, the guy can make a point.

Awesome, huh? I read it at work and then watched it at home with my teenaged son. Truly a great moment in history, I think.

Amazing to me to see how the media is so steadfastly trying to ignore and downplay it here. I'll be interested to see how the Obama campaign carries on upon his return.
