Take a Pill!!!

Ladies, do you hate having your period?  Take a pill!!  Skip your period for three months at a time.  It's okay!!  I'm sure it's all natural and proven effective!  The fine print says so, after all.  Right??

Folks, do your legs sometimes twitch at night?  Feel restless?  Take a pill!  Get used to visiting Atlantic City and/or Vegas, because gambling tendencies are increased when you have restless legs.  It's okay!!  I'm sure it's all FDA approved no matter what you do.

You folks in relationships who finally gathered the strength to admit to your prospective partner that you have genital herpes, but that it doesn't spread to your partner unless you have an outbreak, only to witness a Valtrex commercial and find out otherwise, and then wonder:  It's okay!!!  Take a chill pill!!!!  Obviously some study has taken place to prove you otherwise, while you were restlessly turning and tossing in your bed one night, wondering why your girlfriend missed her period for three months straight.

Don't worry yourself even more about rising health care costs and the meat wagon that HMO's have become.  Worry more about adopting an illegal alien child who cannot afford our healthcare system, and then worry about how you'll explain to him or her why.

Meantime, take a pill!!

Wish there was a pill that could undo the 2000 (s)election and give us the eight years of Gore we should have had!

Wish there was a pill that we could have given GWB which would have boosted his IQ, woken up his long-abused conscience, and given him the strength to stand up to Cheney and Addington.

Wish there was pill that McCain could take that would restore the independence he used to have...

I don't know that the Gore we would have had is the Gore we have today.

His loss turned him from a mediocre presidential candidate and adequate, two-term vice president to a Nobel and Oscar winning statesman.

I say he got the better end of that deal than we did.

Jason,

You are right of course. I thought of that also as I reread my post.

A Gore presidency though, would have kept the American response to 911 more within the bounds of the law I would hope than did the bush reaction.

Not to mention the plundering of the Treasury and all the other ills this administration has wreaked on a supine and helpless country.

I totally agree, but wonder if we didn't need those things to prepare us for the enormous 180 the country needs to do to fix things.

I am afraid that while an Al Gore presidency would have had the appearance of being uber democratic, it may have been a facade like Clinton's presidency was.

He probably wouldn't have been as much in the pocket of big business as Bill was because of the environmental stuff and perhaps the response to 9-11 would have been more measured. Iraq would not have happened, unless that decision was made at a higher level than Cheney and Bush.

I think that Gore in 2000 would have been as easy to manipulate as Clinton was by the moneyed elite in this country. As bad as Bush? No friggin way, but it still would have been a "gentle" strangulation.

We would have had the appearance of a progressive president without any real progress. Americans are notorious for needing a severe ass kicking before they yank their heads from their asses and do what's right.

Stubborn cusses, the lot of us. :O)

Wish there was a pill that would change Repub Idiots into Wise Dems.

Wish there was a pill that would make Bush and McCain speak only the truth.

I know - I know! A pill to make Congress do their job without the political games!

"You know we got pills for ills, and thrills, and even spills..."-----Jimi Hendrix, "Belly Button Window".

I wish there was a pill that would put me to sleep until after the election (if Obama wins) and in 2012 if he doesn't. I'm making myself and everyone around me crazy!

Wish there was a pill that would change Repub Idiots into Wise Dems.

There isn't a pill but you can do it by simply talking to them. I was out canvassing for Obama, Scott Harper (IL-13) and our other downballot candidates this weekend.

At one house I was looking for the son and mother who weren't home but got the dad who wasn't on the list of indies I was scouting. He made no bones about being a Repub and with a smirk told me we're a Repub county. I pointed out to him like I do all the uninformed that almost 133,000 people took Dem ballots here to 109,000 Repub on Super Tuesday so it's no longer true. And before he could say "Limbaugh" or "operation chaos" I pointed out that this was months before operation chaos and it was the last chance Repubs had to vote for someone other than McCain, Romney dropped out two days later. Well that turned his smile upside down as he confided "Our party didn't give us any good candidates this year, we need someone like Reagan". That gave me an opening for my "27 years of trickle down supply economics have left us with a $10 trillion dollar debt" speech. Repubs brought up on FOX BS about tax and spend Dems are stunned to hear such fiscal sanity.

We probably won't get his vote but he won't be arguing with his wife and son about theirs and he may not vote at all. That's fine with me.

And you might be surprised about his vote as well. My brother-in-law is the same guy and succumbed to the same argument.

I believe it is one you posted on a blog of mine once. Works like a charm! Got my friend, a life-long Texas republican, to go Obama as well.

You should do a blog on that - A Primer to Canvassing Republicans.

I think it begins with having the facts about our lives that most people agree on because of the historical record. It also is helped along by not automatically demonizing the republican mainstream voter for being victimized by the neocons. Same reason I stopped blaming democrats for allowing the DLC raping of the country under Clinton.

Hell, I don't even blame Clinton anymore.

That is where I am coming from. We need both incessant and logical truth that slams through programming as well as the empathetic manner that leads to an easier acceptance.

Very fine line, but I love your debt argument, because every republican I have met is at least a "fiscal conservative" if not a social one. Just follow it up with reintroducing them to Teddie Roosevelt and Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson.

I bet most republicans don't shit about them and that is their true legacy as a party.

How 'bout a pillbox for the hair?

Good point, lisb.

There's also the pill to forget you took a pill or even needed one.

Take Propranolol, which apparently blocks adrenalin receptor sites and therefore helps repress memory creation. Apparently, propranolol also helps weaken older traumatic memories as well.
