Nothing But Net

Obama hit two three pointers with ease while visiting troops in a gym in Kawait.  They loved it.

May seem trivial, but the symbolism...

Is this video anywhere on the web? I'd love to see it.

Thanks, DiegoUK for providing that.

Boy, those are some happy troops.

There's something about the three-ball that many of those who didn't play don't often realize. It opens up the middle. Let someone rain threes on you from long distance, and you'll lose fast (as long as their eye holds out - live by the jumper, die by the jumper!), move out on them and the lane opens to let someone with a good move operate off the dribble. Collapse in to stop that drive, and a good passer will find the outside shooter someone left alone. A very potent weapon indeed.

Threes are your friends...

"A very potent weapon indeed"

Indeed, and just one of many up his sleeve. That's the symbolism I was talking about - you sum it up well.

Here's another good piece form the AP

Thanks DeigoUK. I needed to see that.

Hi barefooted! I don't have to work tomorrow, again! YAY!!!

How are you?

Agreeing with the original post, I add the following observation:

Senstor Obama went to see the troops in their domain, then proceeded withou fanfare or hesitation, to show them that he is wiling to put "it" on the line in full view of everyone.

Shooting three-pointers is completely unrelated to presidential qualification.

Putting yourself out there with the troops, with the whole world watching, and *delivering the goods* shows the sort of guts that is one important part of the stuff I am looking for in a leader.

Actually, it isn't trivial that Obama plays, and is good at, the same kinds of sports that average Americans play in high school, college and in pick up games after work.

Of course, the media will harp on the guy being out of touch because he can't bowl but... nobody bowls anymore. We all want to be able to sink a long three.
