Keith Olbermann caught being a hypocrite (On McCain's Czechoslovakia error
Keith Olbermann is being portrayed as a hypocrite for criticizing John McCain's recent reference to "Czechoslovakia", a country that ceased to exist in the early 90's, while transcripts have been unearthed showing that the angry pundit himself has cited the ghost country in the following occassions, as reported today by the "Olbermann Watch" website:
* OLBERMANN [11/8/2005]: Let's play Oddball....To Prague in Czechoslovakia, where the country's newest reality show...
* OLBERMANN [3/22/2004]: Here are Countdown's "Top 3 Newsmakers" of this day: No. 3: Three 14-year-old school boys in Czechoslovakia...
* OLBERMANN [4/12/2004]: Let's play "Oddball." In Poland, they throw water on each other in the festival of Schvingus Gingus (ph); In Czechoslovakia, they celebrate with an Easter Birching...
Yes, I know Olbermann is not running for president, but...boy is he a dumb overpaid hypocrite.

He's neither as overpaid nor as hypocritical as Hannity or Limbaugh.

Olbermann is running for president? And claiming major foreign policy experience? I must have missed that...

That does it; Mr. Olbermann just lost my vote for President.

The previous two members issued the predictable "but Olbermann isn't running for president!" defense, ignoring that the diary is about his hypocrisy, not his qualification to be president. I even specified this in the last paragraph of my post.
Keith Olbermann is a hypocrite who believed as recently as 2005 that Czechoslovakia still existed.
Agree?

Harping on this is worse than hypocracy. It is stupid. It helps McCain by distracting from real critiques of his real faults.

I think that harping on the Czechloslovakia/Czech Republic confusion is stupid politicaly. There are so many good reasons to opose McCain. Wasting time on this trivia does no0t serve us well. It makes us look like we do not have a case. It is like harping on Bush's malapropisms. It makes us feel beter but it loses elections.

As soon as Olbermann also switches "Sunni" and "Shi'ite" in Iraq 4 times in 48 hours, claims that the "surge" began before the Sunni "awakening" in Iraq when the opposite is true, and makes comments about the "Iraq-Pakistan border," they'll be even.
