Hey Obama - don't just pull troops from Iraq...
How about a 16-month withdrawal of troops from South Korea as well?
After all, SK is a modern country with twice the population of the North and something like 20 times its economic might. Having troops there feeds a continual cycle of anti-Americanism. It costs us $3 billion a year, even with Korean subsidies.
And hey, if you're worried about losing American influence in Asia, why not just relocate the troops to Guam? It's still in the neighborhood.
I know you're in the mood to pull out. Go for it - pull out early and often.

Hell, while we're at it. Pull military out of all of the G8 countries. We can drop the hammer on anyone at anytime from a carrier battle group. We don't need these bases in these countries.

Yes, lets come home and mind our own
business and stop claiming "vital
national
interests"
everywhere .
Its time our "vital interests" were our
country, our healthcare, our fuel/energy
crisis, our bumbling education system,
crumbling infrastructure, our food
costs....
Let the people's money come home to
aid the people, thats what its for, duh.
The Pentagon can take a year or two off
and re-bid their contracts at minimum
wage if they want to come back.
Their
mission statement has "continued annual
GROWTH" for their programs! It thinks its
a Wall Street Growth Stock, earnings up every
quarter.
Washington runs on an alcoholic mentality,
they spend and promise and break the promise
and spend again. Its is our insanity
for believing that this same action
will bring us different results.
Starve the beast of the Pentagon...for real change.
