GWB to Divorce over Drunkenness and Infidelity
The Russian news agency Pravda reports that George W. and Laura Bush will divorce after the upcoming 2008 elections. Mrs. Bush will reportedly be paid $20 million should she divorce her husband.
Bush's repeated sexual encounters with Condoleezza Rice (TMI, TMI, TMI!) has been reported to be at the center of the dispute between the President and the First Lady. Bush's inability to stay on that wagon has also been reported as a factor.
Oh, and apparently Bush joins McCain in publicly calling his wife a c*nt.
Read the full story here. It's a hoot (in a disgusting Republican sort of way)!
And do Recommend this post should you choose.

Too funny by half! However given the source I am going to have to chalk this one up to BS.
But it is a great read!

You know, had it been a single source citing it, I would have chalked it up to bullshit, too. But I have been reading little snippets of this on and off for about three years now.
Pravda just made it worthwhile to put a post together on it.
I don't doubt it at all. Laura Bush walking away with $20 mil and a modicum of respect...don't doubt it at all.
Mr. Bush is an embarrassment extraordinaire!

It IS a single source, The Examiner. No other source, just repetition of The Examiner's story if you actually read the Pravda piece. They are not "reporting" anything here, just repeating third hand. See my comment downthread.

The echo chamber has sunken to a new low. The only consolation I'll have if Obama loses to McCain is knowing that the kind of people who source the National Enquirer as fact won't have any voice in my government.

Read the entire piece. There were other sources.
And while you're at it, go to eBay and bid on a sense of humor.

I'm inclined to take this mainly as a joke. As a joke, I like it!
As a news story, it would seem thinly sourced -- since Pravda seems to mainly quote American tabloids as its sources.

I think everything about Bush (all of them) are nothing more than tabloid worthy. :-D

I'll make mine the 3rd voice to say that I doubt the veracity of this story. And although I'll admit to laughing, I'm embarrassed by my laughter. We would not be amused if such poorly sourced allegations were being made against Obama.

Remember...laughter is the best medicine.
I wonder if that would be the remedy of whiners, too. Since the great Gramm (cracker) seems to think we're all whiners, maybe a dose of a chuckle or three might just fix up our broken economy, too! ;)

It would be wrong to blanket e mail this 'story' with as much zest and zeal as those who gleefully pushed the send button millions of times to 'spread the word' about Obama being Muslim and/or unpatriotic, etc. !
But isn't sending it to those who continually clog up my inbox with Obama crap really an obligation to join them in spreading the 'facts' reaped from the internet? And that wouldn't be a bad thing. Or would it?
Hmmm. Never mind, rhetorical question.

I must confess - I hit send! (But only to three of those who have sent me the vilest Obama crap!)
And I'm not sorry! Nah Nah Nah! (Raspberry!!!)
Can't wait to get their replies! Too funny.
Okay, I'm going to my room now. Alone. To think about the 'bad' thing I've done. Attitude readjustment.
As additional penance I'll fine myself $25.00 and send it to Obama!
Thanks Ms. JoAnne.

What a conundrum for Laura. Spend the rest of your life with George and the pathetic Bush clan, or take $20 million.
I think Laura has a better chance at getting $200 million than $20 million, but either way it's a no-brainer.

At this stage, they could give me a buck and a quarter to be rid of the embarrassment that is G. W. Bush. Hell, I'd give them a fin if it would make him go away!

I see your tabloid journalism report, and raise you with a new, updated report on the fraudulent nature of the scanned image of Obama's birth certificate:
From Israeli Insider
via
Atlas Shrugged blog.
I thought this had all blown over until the customer with whom I was working yesterday - and who knows I'm an Obama supporter from the evidence in my vehicle windows - asked what I thought about the new report from a forensic document analyst stating that the birth certificate is definitely a fraud.
My response was that I usually consider the source of such reports, and my philosophy is that unless a source makes some effort to provide a balanced perspective on issues, I tend to not consider them as valid.
So, anyone familiar with Atlas Shrugged?
My personal take on this is that as it easy for an experienced graphics person to photoshop images to present data that suits their argument, I have no reason to believe this article any more than I did the ones last month.
If Obama had not been born in the United States, reliable mainstream sources would have publicized it long before this.

I think the story is more credible than you think.
The Russians have had a front seat view of the White House inner workings. Remember it was Karl Rove that created a separate, secret, RNC-funded e-mail system where all the important WH staff sent their messages - away from the prying eyes of the US people.
What they didn't count on was the prying eyes of Russian counterespionage directed at the White House.
Had Karl let e-mails go through government systems, they'd be protected. Instead, he rolled the dice. And the Russians, Chinese, and Israelis pounced.
I bet they have tons of material to blackmail the whole Administration with.

Oh........
Are you sure it's with Rice?..........
I don't think Pravda knows what it's talking about. Maybe they just got confused and said Condi when they meant to say Cheney.

Further, we know this is true and was so embarrassing that the WH had the SS destroy all visits to the WH.

I agree that the story is a hoot in a fun gossip sort of way so I followed your links.
Your first line
is quite incorrect.
They don't do that at all. The Pravda piece is reporting that this gossip is in the U.S. supermarket tabloid The Examiner. Not only that, but they report that third hand, they say they read about the Examiner piece in Italy’s La Repubblica, which was reporting what was said in The Examiner piece
Bascially what you have here is a story in Italy and Russia that says "guess what the hot gossip is in those zany American tabloids this week?! We tell you so you don't have to fly to an American supermarket to buy them."
Let me put it this way: American bloggers like to complain about the stupidity of the American public as in how they only care about what Paris Hilton and O.J. Simpson is up to. Well, the overall Italian and Russian public? Not soooo very much different; mho, in many ways, worse. Tabloid style "news" is very popular in both countries.

to go right to the Pravda piece,
http://english.pravda.ru/world/americas/18-07-2008/105821-george_laura_bush_divorce-0
my highlighting:
I don't see how anyone could characterize that as "The Russian news agency Pravda reports." It's fully and clearly laid out that not a single part of the story comes from them, and clearly written as a fun puff piece about what gossip is being put out by an American tabloid. It might be that they were short on Russian oligarch gossip this week.

Jeez, it's a fluff piece (and for the record it is their link and their story so they did report it). I didn't say I was Deep Throat (no comments from the peanut gallery) and this was the finding of century.
Get a sense of humor.
And my entire piece goes beyond just what was on the Pravda page. I would say read it but I doubt you'd find much humor.

Sure. Except in your follow-on comments you start treating it seriously. Good news if you spent more time in the supermarkets and less around TPM, you might get a more balanced view of reality.

I've been reading reports for some time claiming that George has repeatedly fallen off the wagon in recent years and that his marriage is in trouble. Though the eminence of a divorce didn't occur to me when I first watched the video of his Houston fundraiser, the bit about them shopping for a house in Dallas would sure fit the story. Maybe the house will only be for Laura? (Inquiring minds want to know...)

For what it's worth:
We have often heard here how Bill Clinton's dalliances are not considered appropriate fodder for making a judgment on his presidency.
It would appear that those talking about GWB in similar terms are wholly hypocritical.
GWB was a disaster as a president -- but you don't need to talk about his marital issues (if any) to make that point. Indeed, his marital issues (if any), didn't tie up the country for 2 years while the business of the president went neglected.

Perhaps if GWB got the occasional blowjob we wouldn't have invaded Iraq.
It's a how you look at it.
And who was it that tied our country up over BJ-gate? Right, the Republicans.
July 23, 2008 2:14 AM | Reply | Permalink
No. Bill deserves as much credit as Congress. His outright lying about it put it on the front page. He also should have known better given that this wasn't the first time... his pattern was known back to Arkansas.
By the way, I would assume that you would know getting BJ's by White House staff would qualify as sexual harassment under most circumstances.
Nice to see you advocate gutter politics -- so long as it's against the GOP. That makes you no different than FNC.

It is not sexual harassment if you initiate and are willing. A statement like that does disservice to women who ARE harassed!
I am not sticking up for BC in any way but spending millions of dollars over a blow job - while he was a sitting president - was a travesty in every way. THAT was what kept Clinton from doing real work and that was all on the Republicans.
July 23, 2008 11:56 AM | Reply | Permalink
Anyone (especially a man) that gets involved with some consensual office "fun", can be subject to harassment charges if the woman cries "foul" after the act. Even if she consented to it initially. (She will say she felt pressured, especially if the man is higher up in management.) Apparently, you haven't been properly trained in sexual harassment:
http://www.allbusiness.com/human-resources/workplace-health-safety/11333-1.html
I very much agree with you. Which is why women who cry "foul" after they've had their fun and might feel emotionally spurned are so despicable. But they do exist and they do take advantage of the system that immediately assumes they are victims.
Had Monica not protected Bill, it could have been a full blown harassment case (though I do not know the specific laws in the District of Columbia, I assume they are similar to those in CA).

Honestly, without video, there's no way to know.
Even if 10 people say it happened, that doesn't mean it did.
Personally, I find the thought creepy (but then the thought of Bush doing Condi is creepier, hell, the thought of Bush doing anything would be a miracle unto itself!)
But it's fun to think (just like the original post here).

Shame. Shame. For sparking these nasty thoughts. :)
