Drudge links to report claiming that John Edwards has just been caught meeting his mistress in hotel
The National Enquirer has a very bad reputation when it comes to telling the truth, but it surprises me that Matt Drudge is linking to the story, which reads:
Vice Presidential candidate Sen. John Edwards was caught visiting his mistress and secret love child at 2:40 this morning in a Los Angeles hotel by the NATIONAL ENQUIRER.
The married ex-senator from North Carolina - whose wife Elizabeth continues to battle cancer -- met with his mistress, blonde divorcée Rielle Hunter, at the Beverly Hilton on Monday night, July 21 - and the NATIONAL ENQUIRER was there! He didn't leave until early the next morning.
I do not believe this rumor, and I call for Edwards to sue any individual who is lying about this alleged event.

I'm somewhat curious as to why you're posting this - and how - given that none of those links were functioning for hours before you posted it.
Great way to make sure a story survives, no?

Well, if it's true, at least it's a tit-for-tat day in the VP stakes. Sarah Palin is off the table due to a governor's office scandal. Oops.

The Kos post states:
".... as her administration is rocked by revelations that she and her family used the governor's office to carry out a vendetta against a policeman who was a former brother in-law, up to firing the public safety commissioner because he wouldn't fire the trooper."

THERE WERE NO REVELATIONS, ONLY ALLEGATIONS!
It's this type of 'dis'reporting that is so damaging to both the subject and readers.
A perfect example of how we are so quick to 'buy into' non-factual reports published by MSM and internet sites we believe to be reporting the truth.
The whole article is skewed and most obviously no fact checking was done. Shame on KOS and all who continue to accept one 'source's' representations without digging deeper to affirm the validity of what they are so quick to post and repeat.

I wonder if the Edwards' marriage will end in divorce, you know, like George and Laura Bush over George's affair with Sec. Rice and his incessant inebriation?
This story is now being reported all over the world, but I don't believe it, and I'm sure that the President and Mrs. Bush will be suing the pants off the dozens newspapers who have documented this story.

I do not care who is poking whom with what either in Hollywood or DC. Even if true this is a non-story.

What????? You think the fact that Pres. Bush is in a constant state of drunkenness while administering the office of President is inconsequential???? You think it's OK having a souse with his finger on the nuclear (err, nuke-ya-ler) button??? You think that the President should get away with boning his SecState in the Oval Office?????
Not that I believe any of this. It's just strange that a person with his power and respect would allow this kind of innuendo to spread among our allies without taking any action to stop it.

1. I was refering to the post my comment was in response to about Sen Edwards.
2. The president's drinking is an issue if it is true, but we still should not spread unsubstantiated rumors.
3. The president's fidelity is still a non-issue regardles of his substance abuse issues or lack their of.
4. How does one stop malicious slander? One cannot prove a negative. Answering the charges would just give them more attention. The list of things President Bush has done right is short indeed but ignoring this story is one of them.

Are all atheists completely deaf to irony -- or call it parody or sarcasm if you prefer -- or is it just you?

I always give people credit for meaning what they say because Poe's Law is as true for politics as it is for religion.
