CNN, Sunday 1pm ET - Fareed Zakaria to interview Obama

Just a heads up to those who might be interested.  Obama will be interviewed by Zakaria on his CNN show GPS.  It starts at 1:00pm ET.  The CNN episode summary:

An exclusive interview. Senator Barack Obama answers the tough
questions on the world's greatest crises, from Iraq to Afghanistan,
from Israel to Iran. Don’t miss what promises to be one of the best
interviews of the year!

I haven't seen Zakaria's show before, but based on his writing I'm assuming it'll be a fairly substantive discussion.  Should be good watching.

I've been watching it since it started. It's pretty much what you'd expect. I hope he builds up a decent ratings record so that it doesn't get axed.

I'll make sure to watch it.

Thanks for the heads-up.

WE NEED TV GUIDE ONLINE THIS POSTER HELPS MY TV SCHEDULE

I'm in the UK and so only get CNN International (it's crap). Looking on the CNN Live site it's not listed, so I guess I'll not be getting it.

I still can't find a listing for CNN on TVU or SOPcast, so if anyone knows of a way to watch CNN live online please let me know.

Here's some background for ya.

This interview underscores the fallacy in the criticisms of Obama's foreign policy understanding and preparation. The ability to be effective in foreign policy is as much about previous practical experience as it is about an ability to understand the nuance and shades of gray that underpin all major international issues. That understanding is the basis of truly effective dealings with those who have a different worldview and experience than your own. Obama has it plain and simple. It's debatable whether McCain does and Bush certainly does not.

I thought this was an excellent interview. Lots of cogent analysis. I was very impressed with Zakaria's interview style as it was very substantative and focused on the issues. I hope that he can replace MTP as the best Sunday interview. It was awesome.

Yeah, like I said in my post I'd never seen his show before but I really came away enjoying it. It's on a little early for me on a Sunday, but I might have to make watching his show a habit.

Also, I'm glad vox linked that thing upthread -- The Post-American World is 1 book away on my reading list and I am way looking forward to it. I was aware that Obama was a fan of Zakaria's, and had seen that picture before, but I like to think that didn't have an impact on Zakaria's questioning today. :)

The transcript is up here:

Woohoo, thanks for the transcript link! I missed the first 5 mins, and was barely awake for the rest. It's nice to go back over it.
