An Obama Fundraising Challenge

If you haven't read about Genghis's fundraising events, please do so.  But, if you can't attend, then consider taking part, right here, right now, in my Obama fundraising challenge.

Here are the terms: I pledge to donate $100 to the Obama campaign, and $100 to the democratic senate candidate of Genghis's choice, if he will permanently change his avatar to one that isn't an animated gif.  It's that simple.

I call on all of you loyal TPM readers to join me in pledging what you can, if Genghis will take off his technicolored dreamshirt. If you are with me, sign below and let Genghis know what you'll do for the progressive cause.

I'm with you, but can I go with a House candidate?

I'm in Alabama and Sessions and Shelby are, well, pretty safe.

Damn it!

I'm in Washington, and we have no Senators up this time. But I'm happy to throw some money to a deserving candidate with a non-negligible chance of winning a heretofore Republican seat.

Of course, you get to set the terms of your own pledge. It doesn't even need to be monetary - you can pledge time volunteering. But I encourage everyone to make a specific pledge so that Genghis feels compelled to shed his annoying avatar!

But I like the dreamshirt! Its annoyingness is the secret of its appeal.

And be careful what you wish for . . .

The way this is phrased could lead to an avatar that would not, necessarily, be an improvement.

'Tis twue.

No Genghinips, please!

(Aw, Gawd! And if they were technicolor!)

Me, too. Genghis is Genghis without it. It would be like Samson losing his locks. I think a lot of his charism eminates from those flashy collars. :(

Me too. Sorry, Allsburg, but Genghis and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcollar rocks!

[But no worries, I am giving regularly to the Obamaman]

Oh, yeah?

Well, I pledge to donate $100 to the Obama campaign, and $100 to the democratic senate candidate of Genghis's choice, if stands up for the poor, downtrodden shirt and doesn't change it, at least through the summer.

(Allsburg: you remember what happened last time someone asked Genghis to take off his shirt, don't you? I would post a link, but I don't think it's cached -- plus I don't want to burn anyone's retinas out.)

Save the Shirt!!

and what do you have against animated avatars?!

Aye! What's wrong with them you..you..animmationist! :P

Count me in for Obama for sure and for Warner. As for letting Genghis choose, cannot go there this time. I want Mark Warner in the U.S. Senate representing VA.

I've helped some friends put together a jazz and poetry slam as a fund raiser and while I won't be there, I've already put my money into the kitty.

rec'd.

Alas, I missed this post on it's first run. But you are precociously maliciously brilliant as usual, baby. Next week, I will post a thread pitting the Pro-Shirt lobby against the Anti-Shirt lobby and prostituting my avatar to the highest bidder.
