You Can't have Him (or Her)

Inspired by the new MoveOn.org ad that was just released, a new web-blog has appeared, allowing concerned citizens to send in their own pictures of loved ones that John McCain can't have.

Check it out!

You know, I wasn't sure how effective that first ad was, but if this has a snowball effect it might just go somewhere.

That's my opinion. The ad itself? Eh. But if this website snowballs into something truly viral, and MoveOn and others get wind of it, it could really be something. It humanizes the possibility of extending the Iraq war for many more years or into other arenas. I know *I* wouldn't want to be responsible for putting any one of those precious kids in harms way.

I thought the ad itself was pretty good, but they jumped in with the disclaimer too quickly. I wish they'd held the image of her looking at the camera just a beat longer. Heck, she barely got "him" out before it jumped to the white screen.

Another thing - why a white screen instead of a black one. Seemed like a weird choice - is there a psychological association to that?

Highly, highly, highly recommended.

Recommended, it's an excellent idea.

Yeah, the ad wasn't the best. This blog could really take off if the right influence gets to it. Here's to hoping it does.

Hmmm. I don't think we're the target audience for this ad, which is probably a good thing. But I think it has enough impact to possibly be this year's "Daisy" ad.

But the blog is inspired.

It kind of hit me as a mom with a toddler running around. (Target audience then? Women?) I think they could have added a lot more emotional oomph though, maybe with some images of that little guy running around or something and make it a voiceover instead.
