Why I'm Not Dropping My Gloves

On this site and many others, there has been an outpouring of Obama supporters recommending a truce of sorts.  I have also noticed that Clinton supporters routinely tell us how awful we Obama supports appear. They accuse us of being ingracious  and unwelcoming. They blame their reluctance to cross over on our continued animosity.

My attempt to explain our (or at least my) reasoning for not playing nice just yet may seem like another attack on you candidate, but I mean it only as a way to clarify my position.

Your candidate continues to throw punches and yet you expect us to collectively drop our gloves? Have you lost your mind? This has nothing to do with denigrating you because of your choice of candidate; I am simply questioning your absolute sense. Do you really expect us to curl up in the fetal position while your candidate and her surrogates kick us in the ribs?

Please stop accusing us of continued divisiveness for divisiveness sake and be a realist for just 2 seconds. If you want peace, as many say they do, stop throwing punches.

The problem, as has been pointed out before, appears to be the trolls posing as Hillary supporters who are here only to keep stirring things up. Of course, I have yet to see any true Hillary supporters taking these people on, but I've been away for several days, so maybe I missed it.

Hussein, only thing that I've seen over these days, weeks, months it the constant bashing of anything Hillary. One would think in Victory that some graciousness would come forward. So much for not doing Politics as Usual.

here's one examplehttp://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/2008/06/thought-experiment-what-if-hil.php

I agree with the poster. Obama has been a gracious winner, stopped campaigning against her after North Carolina, when it was clear he would be the victor BY THE RULES. She and her people have kept taking shots at Obama, and I personally believe it is an effort to damage him permanently. Some statements are impossible to take back. If the attacks in this campaign had been reversed, the racists may have actually made attempts on Sen. Obama's life for attacking a white woman.

Or this enlightening discussion.

Little girl, you had better hope that Hillary Clinton has that quality that has clearly eluded you, i.e., maturity. You had better hope that Obama picks her as his VP, or at the very least that she throws herself wholeheartedly and enthusiastically behind Obama's campaign if you want to see him elected. Now go take your hurt little feelings to mommy or daddy, who I'm sure will continue to indulge you as they have in the past.

Thanks for proving my point. Youre exactly the type I was thinking of when I wrote this.

Very perseptive. We will need to keep our gloves on for the next 8 years as Hillary and her rabid followers will do anything and everything to harm Obama and the Democratic Party, with him in the White House.
