Remember that Solis-Doyle was fired as the scape-goat for a failed campaign strategy not of her making.
She was seen as very effective as a staffer for Clinton when she was in the White House.
The possiblity of Solis Doyle joining the Obama campaign was floated for several weeks PRIOR to the end of the primaries. After all, she no longer had a job. (I guess she enjoys trivial things like having a place to live, food, paying bills, etc.)
The probability of the winning campaign absorbing large numbers of staff from the losing camp also was reported. I think Obama would have been criticized FOR hiring Clinton loyalists and for NOT hiring Clinton team members. Evidently, Solis Doyle is an experienced advisor, as well as a female and a latino. Why not hire her if she is capable and interested?

Thank you, artappraiser. That thread was interesting.
Thanks you both. I suspected that the media excitement about this was bogus--it doesn't make sense for Obama to try to insult Clinton at this point. Also, as you both point out, she's free and she'll be an asset--what's the problem? I would imagine that by now Clinton wishes she'd dumped Penn instead of Solis Doyle.
just hiring qualified people.
