Tony Rezko Convicted
Just in from the Chicago Tribune:
Antoin "Tony" Rezko has been found guilty on at least one count in his federal corruption trial.
Rezko was charged with mail and wire fraud, aiding and abetting bribery, attempted extortion and money laundering in connection with an alleged scheme to corrupt a pair of state boards.
Will this be the last we hear of Obama's one-time associate?

Carol Costello read the verdict on CNN, adding (at least I hope this wasn't part of the verdict:
"The Chicago fundraiser, with ties to Barack Obama, was found guilty of..." blah, blah, blah. The shitty innuendo just never ends.

As much as has been made about their association, there's not a single thing that anyone has pointed to as being improper. Strange timing to see this come out on Obama's victory day, but unless Rezko is holding back some kind of damning evidence that he hopes to trade for leniency, I don't think we'll be hearing much more from poor old Tony R.

I bet this is what Hillary has been waiting for, though. McCain has his own baggage. Can he, or the repubs afford to use the connection to smear Obama?

Not if there's nothing there, and there's nothing there.

Not if there's nothing there, and there's nothing there.
I would hope not but my wife and I spent the first 30 years of our lives in IL. Our families and friends are still there and we visit frequently. I still follow IL politics.
One of the reasons I was uneasy about Obama from the start is that he came up through the sewer that is the Chicago political machine. I've never seen a choirboy or milk drinker make it through. When the house deal with Rezko hit the news, I had an "uh oh" moment regarding Obama that I still can't shake.
PatFitz just got a bunch of new staff because his office is swamped with active investigations they lack the staff to pursue.
And now with Rezko convicted, it's not a good feeling. We'll see.
