There's no umbrage like manufactured umbrage...

So, the former Top Hillary Campaign Aide, Patti Solis Doyle has been hired by the Obama Campaign, and apparently some former Hillarylanders are pissed.

I know this because CNN and the Washington Post have told me so.

I mean look at this stuff:

“According to one longtime adviser, the move is being seen by many of those close to Clinton as a message she will not be Obama’s vice presidential pick.

…and…

"It's a slap in the face," Susie Tompkins Buell, a prominent Clinton donor, said Monday. "Why would they put somebody that was so clearly ineffective in such a position?" She said it was a "calculated decision" by the Obama team to "send a message that [Clinton] is not being considered for the ticket."

Let's be honest, the odds are not great for Veep, but I mean, it’s not like the Mainstream Media is interested in fomenting dissent between the Clinton and Obama camp to sell papers or anything.

It’s not like this is typical of national campaigns or anything, where former rivals coalesce around the Nominee.  Oh, wait a minute, it is.

It’s not like this she’s been out of a job for a couple of months, and that this story was floated back…oh, I don’t know, a month ago.

Oh, wait it was.

And certainly never mind a key fact that the Politico article noted, that most of the mainstream media has apparently forgotten:

Patti Solis Doyle is from Chicago.

“Solis Doyle, a Chicago native whose brother is an alderman there, has known Axelrod even longer than she’s known the Clintons. Both said they’d talked frequently through the course of the campaign.”

This little fact was missing from the CNN umbrage.  Even Keith didn’t mention it last night.  Very few sources even mention the Axelrod connection.  At least the Post mentions it (toward the bottom of the article, of course):

“As long-standing as Solis Doyle's ties to Clinton once were, her Chicago roots are even deeper. Her first job in politics was working on Mayor Richard M. Daley's campaign staff, and she has a long friendship with Obama's chief political adviser, David Axelrod. She also is close to Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.), another Chicagoan and Obama confidant.”

Oh, so not just Axelrod, but Daley and Emanuel are all on her speed dial.

This shouldn’t be a story, but never mind that, the mainstream media has ads and papers to sell, dangit.

Oh yeah, and we’ll get around to printing some news.

Thanks for bringin' your facts re Doyle. Good to see someone pushin' back against Buell's trash talkin' and the media's lappin' it up. Rec'd.

Thanks for your kind words. I also learned last night (I think via Olbermann) that Patti's brother was a Chicago Community Organizer who used to work with...guess who? (This Barack Obama feller).
