Strickland Removes Himself from the Veepstakes

He actually had a shot at winning it too.

I personally was never wild about the idea, but if he could help Obama win in Ohio, I was for it. But the Governor isn't interested.

Asked on NPR's "All Things Considered" if he is auditioning to be Obama's running mate, Strickland said, "Absolutely not. If drafted I will not run, nominated I will not accept and if elected I will not serve. So, I don’t know how more crystal clear I can be."

Looks like Obama is gonna have to win Ohio on his own, which I'm confident he can do.

There is an effort behind the scenes to get Hillary on the ticket. Strickland is likely part of that movement. He probably rightly realized that Obama and Co. could tap him in order to placate Hillary because Hillary couldn't scoff at the idea or raise a stink after Strickland went to bat for her in Ohio.

Or maybe he doesn't want to subject himself to the vetting process knowing he is a long shot. Biden said he'd only open himself up to the vetting process if he had a real shot and would want Obama to tell him to his face, to look him in the eye when he asked him.
